I’ve been searching the forums and net for months and am just stuck and need some help. Looking for new tires before this year’s hunting season. All terrains but also need to handle well on the streets. I think I have it narrowed down to either the Goodyear wrangler duratracs or the BFG K02’s but I’m concerned with some people saying the duratracs get unbearably loud and the duratracs or the K02’s both weigh more than the 36 pound stock tire I have. Does that matter in MPG? How big of a hit will I take with the increased weight, the duratracs are 44 pounds and the K02’s are 50 pounds. Posted here for higher traffic than in the tire forum and would like to get something purchased this month yet. What comes OEM on the off roads and pros? Are they any good? Any others I should look at? Thanks all.

i hope this doesn’t cause a shitstorm, but...

I’ve used th Falken AT3’s for year round enjoyment hunting or not. The Goodyear Ultra terrain are a nice tire as well. I’ve always like Yokohama on Tacoma’s because they ride very well on and offroad. I’m going to get a set of the Yokohama MTs for the winter and the ATs for the summer.

I DO NOT like the K02’s because they suck in the snow (to the point I spun a 180 barely going 8mph on them) in an all wheel drive Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Duratracs are known to be loud as heel once they wear down a bit

x2 on the falkens AT3w. Best tires I’ve ever had. Quiet on road, great off road, excellent in rain, snow, mud, etc

56,000 out of my first set

no shitstorm at all! Thankful for the help there’s just too many choices and it makes this very difficult. Relieved to hear the K02’s suck because those doggers were expensive.

I have experience with Duratracs and KO2s, although in a larger size and on a full size truck, but my experiences were this: the KO2s are sooooo much better in the mud than the older BFG A/Ts that I couldn't believe it and even better than the Duratracs. The KO2s were better for me on the street as well as far as handling and noise. Had both tires in some typical NE NC snow and ice a few times and never had any complaints. I'd pick the KO2s over the Duratracs. The only experience I've ever had with Falken was the original Wildpeak that turned from an all-terrain tire into a straight tread drag radial looking death trap nightmare within 10k miles and swayed me from ever giving them a chance again. The new Falkens at least look like they're holding up much better and they're probably much lighter than either of the tires you're looking at.

This is not a bad website for checking on the specs for tires.
I've had good luck with my KO2s, been using them since 2013. I think its one of the best all round tires. If I was buying another tire just to try something different I'd probably check out the ST Maxx.

Thanks for the link! Those ST Maxx are 250 per tire, gonna have to pass but they look super nice. I have to also put a set of tires on the wife’s Jeep so trying to stay 200 per tire or less. The Falkens DO seem to have good reviews.

I put a set of Falken AT3W on order today from Tires Direct, they price matched a local sale ad and sold them to me for 153 per tire. I’ll let you know how they ride after the install next week. Thanks for the suggestions

Have you or anyone else had issues with them getting balanced properly or any vibration? Seeing a lot of posts online and has me second guessing if I should go with another tire.

I have the Falkens AT3W mounted on Method Roosts and love them. No issues with mount and balance. 265/70-17

I initially had some issues with the balancing. It took two trips back to the shop before they got it right and the vibration went away. I’m not sure if it was due to the tech working on them or the tires themselves. Since then however these tires have been outstanding for the last 30,000+ miles. I would definitely buy them again.

never a single problem. Had them put on and I think I rotated them once in the 56k miles. I replaced them with another set, put a set on my tundra and my brother is running a set. No issues with any of them.

I run duratracs I don't care about road noise. So it doesn't bother me and they handle great off road.

Once upon a time, I made fun of people who bought KO2s.

Bought a set for a series of long road trips. Now I'm a believer.

I've had Duratracs. Decent wear. Louder as they wear. Ride like they're square.

Had (2 sets) Cooper STT PRO's. Wear ok. Ride good. Best mud tire I've owned in ages. Just LOUD.

    1 set of KM2s.

    1 set of Geolanders

I've off roaded the KO2s quite a bit. Pleased.

MUCH nicer truck to drive with KO2s

I would like my next set of tires to stand out a little if that makes any sense. Running stock 265/70/16 now and it just looks kinda mild. Assuming that if I go to 17’s going to have to get new wheels too. Decisions decisions decisions
