Still about as good a whiskey sour as there is. Monkey Shoulder, simple syrup, egg white, fresh lemon juice.

I have searched high and low in Ohio and parts of Indiana with no luck on any form of E.H. Taylor or Stagg. They had these two marked up a little but that’s to be expected. Paid $80 for each bottle and was just happy to finally find them. Prices weren’t atrocious but they wanted $55 for Eagle Rare and $35 for Buffalo Trace. They had Michters Rye, American, and Sour Mash for $42 each. A pretty decent selection over all and I’m excited to finally get to try these two.

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
For you guys that have it available a little more in your area what is a reasonable price for Elmer T Lee or Blantons? The store down the road has the Lee for ~$100 and I think Blanton's was in the realm of ~$140. Haven't really seen those around here so I am debating picking up at least one of them if the prices aren't crazy. And recommendations of one over the other if I do pick one up?

When one of the chain places (Total Wine/BevMo) gets Blantons it's $60, but it's not often. Independent stores are usually >$100. Have yet to see Elmer T. Lee.

    Found it. $49.99

My crappy review skills and notes:

Nose - Very sweet with some heat on the nose. predominately sweet though - apples stand out to me presumably from the brandy casks.

Taste - First sip is a young hot alcohol. big departure from the nose. Cleared the sinuses a bit. Would not have guessed this from a 45% but hit more like a 55-60%. I always treat the first sip as an acclimation sip. Follow up sips are a battle of sweet and earthy heat. Not complimentary like a blend of the two, but a small battle for your taste buds. Not necessarily a bad thing, just different from my limited experience. Not super thin or viscous. happy medium.

Finish - Medium linger but leaves a slight tinge or burn on the tongue and a hint of the sweetness.

This is a blend of whiskies/bourbon/ryes but seems rye heavy to me. For those of you searching for this or contemplating it, I say go for it if around $50. Definitely a different and unique pour to have in the stash.

Enjoying to one of my favorite songs by Metallica:

Got one. Received a text from the local store owner on Saturday asking if I wanted either or both of these. Picked them up today.

The Balcones is a local group's pick of their cask strength Texas single malt. It is finished in ex Madeira casks. The color is amazing.

That Booker's, though.... Looking forward to it.

    Blantons $60
Elmer is a 100th anniversary bottle this year so I think retail is up at $100

I'm in a control state so our pricing is usually pretty good, but there are some things that we dont even get

I'd say your review is spot on. I found mine at TW in Jacksonville, FL when visiting a buddy for like $45.

I'm glad that's what I paid as I like it, but it drinks more like the ice cask Canadian whiskey my wife grabbed me from north of the border. Too sweet to my liking to be a normal go to.

That being said, it looks bad ass on the bar and is good convo starter

That whole Metallica S&M with San Francisco Symphony blew my mind. When I first started to listen to it I was like what kind of unholy crap is this. Then by half way through I was like wow this is pretty awesome.

is a strange departure from the norm but I think that's why I like it so much. It seems people either love it or hate it, but I'm obviously a fan.

which batch #? or are you talking the Confiscated? either way unless I'm missing something, $100 is a good deal if it's the confiscated or Rye Batch #1/2/3
