Installation for 2nd Gen will be much like my V2 knob/collar install. I will provide two low profile zip ties. Only one zip tie is needed, but if you need to take a mulligan, or ever want to go back to stock you will have it handy.

3rd Gen install is to just twist-lock it into the existing chrome pc that comes with the truck. Super easy.

The tapered lug (shown in blue) faces the driver side.

USPS almost lost one in the last batch. Probably a good thing that I have a few still.

    I still have the 2.

Was waiting for payments that haven't come, so I moved forward with two more people. First two to pay get their part, but if I get payment after they sell I will have to refund.

Hope to have the exact same setup very shortly. Mine arrives today!

Side note: Did you have to use the set nut? I've heard some say that they just use the knob and it screws on perfectly aligned. Mine was way off center/straight when I put it on, so I did end up having to use that extra nut to make sure it was adjusted correctly and lined up. Anyway, just wondering.

Some may get lucky with the alignment, it all depends on the threads. When the parts are manufactured, the thread helix usually has a random start point. The threads on your truck definitely have a random startpoint (single pointed on a CNC lathe most likely) and that is why you get a variation.

If you can stuff something compressible in the bottom of your threaded hole on the knob you can ditch the jam nut.

I go a little more into depth with this here. I use shimming to orient my knobs, but really anything can be used.

There has to be something to it though because I've had a couple regular stock knobs and a couple 3rd Gen TRD Pro knobs and they all aligned when put on and didn't have to use an adjustment/jam nut. So they must have a standard start point for threads on the OEM shaft and knobs. But the TRD Pro gray cueballs maybe were made before they made a standardization for that, or was different for what they were originally made for. (I think made for the FJs or 2nd Gens?)

Nbd to use the jam nut though, you really can't see it, though I can feel it occasionally when my hand is around the ball and I'm shifting. Too bad we didn't have this discussion before getting my retainer, might have seen if you could have thrown a set of shims in with my order! ;)
