I just plan to lay my wife’s kayak flat. Don’t want to deal with the j hooks. I am putting mine in the bed with the hitch mounted bed extender.

 

Very happy customer over here. Been getting lots of compliments on the reack lately. Here are some pics.

 

You could add some .5" spacers and longer bolts to space the mounting feet inward to match your width.

 

What lightbar did you go with? Looks pretty flushed with the crossbars.

I went with a cheaper one on Amazon. I could not justify spending $150-$200+ for a light bar I know I will hardly use lol. This light bar is 42" so it will not fit without some trimming. I saw another guy here do the same thing, it was super easy with a dremil tool and few carbon blades.

did you have to cut into the faring to make that 42” fit?

Thanks for the inspiration, I wouldnt have through about trying it without reading your post. Its a great light bar for the price. And now its about to be put to the ultimate test as we are expected to gte over 200+ inches of snow this winter and its already snowed a couple times and freezings temps at night. Ill post updates on the light bar, but so far im very happy I didint waste $200 on a nice one lol.

We were machining slots in 80/20 by hand on our Bridgeport, but now that the VM is up and running our throughput has increased substantially

 

Your cuts are far better than mine! Glad to know it's a decent light bar for the price. I'll get mine wired up eventually, just can't seem to find the time.

 

Bolted mine directly to the side of the rack with some small spacers through the holes on the side.

Here is how I cut the rack in case anyone wanted to see a picture. I used electrical tape to etch the line then used a dremil. I will post close up pics later.

I more meant of how you actually mounted it and not from far away where you can't see the mounting at all.

 

Yea dont have a pic of that. Il have to take one later when i get off work. I was just showing where it was mounted. Holes in the rack that are snowcone shaped.
