    And then there was the time in either 9th or 10th grade when an intellectually disabled 12th grader hit me over the head with a wooden tennis racket for attempting to engage in some good-natured ball-busting with him. He was either mentally retarded or Down Syndrome (I forget), and the only reason I didn’t beat the living shit out of him is because of his disability. Instead, I immediately notified the gym teacher and if I remember correctly he was suspended from school.

    This particular student was known for dropping his pants and mooning people in the gym locker room if you dared him to do so. It was mean to encourage him to do this since he really didn’t know any better, but needless to say I started jokingly calling “Full Moon.” I feel bad about this now, but at the time I was like 15 with the maturity of a 12-year old.

    So, I took a bathroom break during gym and this kid was in the bathroom when I walked in. We were playing tennis in gym, so that’s why he had the tennis racket. I casually said “Hey, Full Moon” and walked over to the urinal to take a leak. This kid screams “BITCH!!!” and the next thing I know I get clobbered in the back of the head. The racket actually landed in the urinal I was using, and the impact was hard that I thought the racket had snapped in half on my head!

    My only rules were that I did not hit girls or special ed kids (though I can think of three times between 6th and 10th grade where I did lay hands on a female classmate, one of which was ruled self-defense by a teacher and none of which I got in trouble for). If anyone else had hit me with a tennis racket, I would have beaten their ass.

    I was still seeing stars after this attack, and I was more dazed than pissed off. I gave the kid a homicidal glare as I left the bathroom, but immediately found the gym teacher and told her what had happened. I was completely honest and even told her about the “Full Moon” comment that provoked his rage, but I didn’t get in any trouble. If I remember correctly, I was sent home early and my mom had to pick me up, but I never faced any disciplinary action for that encounter and I was back in school the next day like nothing even happened.

    Theres a lot at play here. I mean why didn't teacher know he had said disability (if the teacher did know then she should have been disciplined accordingly). If the teacher knew then why did they go and wake him up? Why wasn't the student in the special ed class? Did the judge know? Theres all sorts of problems there.

    Sadly, he was in a special ed class and it was a special ed teacher who woke him up. He was cited for disorderly conduct, but my guess would be that a judge threw it out.

    My friend has an '06 or '07 AC, SR5, 4x4 (6-lug), 2.7L, 5-speed with crank windows and manual locks. They're around but I think most people optioned the electric windows and locks.

    Also, I had an incident in 12th grade where this girl from the emotional support class was pissing me off and saying shit that wasn’t true. I gently (or so I thought) grabbed by the wrist as if to say “please, shut the fuck up”. She did the orthopedic equivalent of crying rape, screaming about how I’d hurt her wrist (apparently she had carpal tunnel or something?) The special needs and emotional support students were so well organized it was scary, and if they decided they didn’t like you, you were fucked. A few other students from this group rallied around her and claimed I’d violently grabbed her wrist. I did not get in any trouble, but days after this happened the assistant principal pulled me out of class and said that if I did something like this again the police would be called. I acted rather indifferent and was sent back to class.

    Even in the best school districts (Central Bucks is consistently rated among the best in the country), special needs individuals are treated like a diagnosis, and when they act out they are treated like criminals. What used to require little more than a trip to the principal’s office and maybe a detention or suspension nowadays results in the police being called and some poor kid being dragged out of school in handcuffs.

    In my opinion the first gens were more purpose built. Now it seems the purpose of the build is to please people whos only purpose is conspicuous consumption and corporate profit. $1000 plastic bumpers? REALLY.:crapstorm:Got my bumpershoot ready for INCOMING!

    @Wixo

    I would like to point out that in 12th grade, the head of security at my high school issued me a detention on the spot for using the word “fart” in front of the same dickhead assistant principal who threatened me with police involvement.

    And people wonder why I am so anti-authority...

    And I’d also like to point out that I’ve never been arrested, nor do I have any criminal record whatsoever.

    This is all part of our "sue" culture. If people weren't so quick to sue for whatever undeserving reason they're suing for, the principal wouldn't be scared of breaking up a fight or something, and the police wouldn't have to be called. The probem is that if some kid is stabbing another kid and you pull him off his parents are gonna sue you for physically aggravating their kid.

    When I was in HS, I carried a Remington 12 gauge and Marlin 30-30 in my gun rack. Many kids did and we went hunting after school. You'd have the SWAT team smashing your face into the parking lot if you did that today... My how times have changed...

    My second high school (I attended 9th and 10th grade in Virginia; 11th and 12th in PA) had a goddamn shooting range in the 1950s; Kids brought their rifles to school for target practice!

    I wouldn't go so far as to say "anti" authority, but I think questioning authority is a healthy part of being human and functioning within our society. We should all be free to question why (some places in this world you aren't, and those aren't places I want to be). You can question authority and still have respect for it.
