Hello all, over the last couple of months I've been trying to decide between the Ranger/Tacoma/F-150, and well I've finally made my decision and decided to join the Taco Club. So come spring time next year I'll hopefully be trading in my 2013 Focus ST towards a shiny new 2020 Voodoo Blue TRD Sport, DCSB MT. This will be my first ever truck and first non-Ford vehicle.

I briefly looked at the Ranger. The front made me vomit because all I could see was a minivan front with a Truck bed rear.

    I’m a fan of ford, I’ve had an 02 Ranger and a 05 F-150.

Mini van in the front, truck in the rear.

Honestly, the manual transmission and sunroof.

The Tacoma has everything I need and want in a vehicle. It can tow my boat, a small camper if I decide to buy one. It has a manual transmission, sun roof, good aftermarket support, and heated leather seats for those cold upstate NY winters. And it'll be better for taking the family camping than our Explorer. My first mod is going to be a Baja rack of some sort. Plus, making trips to Home Depot will be so much easier than with the Focus or our Explorer. The only downsides as far as I'm concerned are the rear drum brakes and the lower towing capacity. But realistically what's there is sufficient for my needs.

I had been anticipating the Ranger but the US version is too heavily neutered compared to say the Aussie version. No manual, no sunroof, no raptor variant, plus the front end is fugly, the extra 1000lbs towing capacity just wasn't worth the other compromises I'd have to make.

I briefly considered the Gladiator but for the price of one of those I might as well just buy a full size. And a full size F-150 is just too much money for abilities I wouldn't fully utilize. Maybe for my next truck.

Yeah, that front end is fugly. If they had brought the Raptor Ranger over from Australia I'd have bought it. But I just don't see them doing that anytime soon.

Fellow upstate NY’er here, The real upstate, not White Plains or Rockland!

I haven’t had this much fun with a vehicle since my WRX.

I’m actually excited for the snow to fall for the first time since I was 10.

I'm from Oswego originally and grew up with lake effect. Always fun when the plows stop running because they can't keep up with the snowfall.

I was a Ford guy. Had an ‘03 Ranger for 13 yrs and loved it. Traded it for my Taco. If I were buying full-size it would be F150. After having my Taco for a few years now, I’d consider a Tundra with how I’ve enjoyed having it. I’m never Dodge or Chevy lol.

The new Ranger is a huge disappointment. You’ll love the Taco.

I think the Tacomas are the best looking mid size imo

Can't argue with you there. It's certainly better looking than the US Ranger. I have seen some nice looking Colorado's, and the Gladiator isn't too bad in the looks department either. Provided you're into Jeeps. But I trust Toyota more than both of those, plus the Tacoma is priced better.
