I booger'd the shaft by using a pipe wrench, I couldn't believe the amount of force you needed to turn that thing. That being said, the spindle was off the truck and in a vice. It took me, my father, and two of his coworkers at his plant to get it on and off. Three were holding the knuckle steady, and two were pulling the wrench.

 

any other parts you need to go to a worthy candidate?

I've done it. If anything, trying to get an impact on the puller is more of a pain in the ass than just using a hand tool. Especially when trying to use the jenky 3-arm puller method.

Or, just do like I did and cut the BJs off and replace with uniball UCAs

I managed to do it by myself with the other side, took me a long damn time and a lot of cursing though. When I did ball joints on the Honda it took a good 30 seconds with the impact.

The issue is no leverage since it isn't on the truck.

 

Those are for SPC upper control arms

If you have stock uppers, I would just grab a new or used pair and throw those on without messing with replacing just the ball joints. Lots of people selling used pairs of them on here when they upgrade to aftermarket arms.

Or take the opportunity to upgrade to SPCs

Like I said, my knuckles weren't on the truck. I had zero leverage, if they were on the truck you could do it yourself.

Having a press would be nice. I've long run out of room for tools though.
