What “mod” do I have to do to the switch to fix it from being lit up when it shouldn’t be?

The “trac off” light and check engine light both went away on their own yesterday after awhile.

I have not done it as the light, day or night, is not distracting at all.

You just have to cut the proper wire at the switch and join them to the same one on another switch that controls illumination.

Or, you can wait on @lapoltba 's new PnP illlumination harness (another thread) that will help with this.

Strange, I have not heard of that happening to anyone else. Did you disconnect the battery before unplugging things? Glad it sorted itself out.

You would have to cut the ground wire at the switch and attach it to any of the other switches that have an ill- connection. Like @tonered said, I am planning to offer a PnP option to do this for the three typical switch locations.

I just want to say this is the best 100-ish bucks I’ve ever spent on my truck. With my 20% grade driveway, I’ve never been able to reverse without smoking my clutch. This mod has worked wonders. Thanks @lapoltba and @BigWhiteTRD !!

Just finished my install today.... sort of. Followed all the thread chatter about getting the right color blue switch, and what do you know.... either I’m terribly colorblind or my switches are amber (possibly green).

Which color should I get here:
    https://www.ch4x4.com/product/ch4x4-toyota-small-push-switch-2wd-low-range-symbol/

Thanks guys, for now my lower switch panel is just vomiting out a cable with a switch attached. :)

<edit>. Ok, figured out the ‘um, error?’ Looks like lighting was just right and all that I could see was the ‘on’ section of all the other lights. Now that it got dark all the blue shows up. Yep, oem blue is a little lighter, but not so different.

Did I see somebody doing an led mod? Swapping in an Amber for the ‘on’ half of the switch?

Hahahaha too funny. Just wasted 15 minutes searching the ch4x4 site for the "small" switch (changed mind on switch location)...........and of course I had forgotten the links on the first page here  Wow they have a lot of switches......:rofl::rofl::smash: Pretty cool NTL

After having this for a while, this should 100% be on everyone’s mod list, right beside the ADM

Same here. It makes coasting into the garage so much better. Just creep along and steer. No more slipping the clutch.

Yep, driving my 4 banger around at high elevation (8-12k) ft I was able to keep it in the power band. Last time I did this trip it sucked, but not with this mod.

I remember you mentioned you were intending to use this while towing your camper I think? Was this on-road, dirt, off road? I couldn't imagine using it on any roads 30mph+. I mean, I guess it would work fine, but the t-case is screaming in 6th gear on my V6.

I used it on every driving surface imaginable. 4200 miles in a week.

I reference the manual and it says 56mph max in top gear, but I didn't really stay at that speed for long when I hit it ... more like 40-45 all the way up rt. 36 from Lyons, CO to Estes Park. Also on rt. 34 from Ft. Collins to Estes. I would pull over and engage right when I got into the mountains.

Used it on Old Fall River Rd (dirt), really made that a breeze. Could have used 4x4 here, but didn't need it.

Only time I actually needed 4x4 was getting out of the driveway at the house, crazy ass incline and it just slipped in 2wd. I can't even get out of the driveway in 2 or 4 HI without a running start.

I rarely used 1st gear with it engaged, but I will save that for the camper.

This trip was no camper. 3 people, 2 dogs and a lot of luggage.

If you have a Manual 3rd Gen Truck this Mod is perhaps one of the most useful install you can do even if you do not tow a trailer that you need to back up! I find my self using it all the time like just backing up my driveway into the Garage (I have a Long long driveway) I use it so much with the boat now that I don't even look for the switch Just know where it is from doing it so many time and the steps to engage \ disengage don't even have to think about it now.

Same here. I use it all the time even though I don't need to. Even backing into my moderately steep driveway up behind the house with a sharp 90 degree turn I use it. It's just so much easier and I can do it with zero clutch slip. When backing up a trailer is when it's usefulness becomes most apparent.

2 left now. Hop over the fence if you're on it. I expect the wait for a 50 person group buy is going to be long.....

All gone now. 1 pending payment. If it isn't sold by the weekend it will be available.
