Thanks! Glad you enjoy. It's fun to put together, even if it is a lot of work! Hopefully another installment coming today...

...Ready for our hike, we ran into a bit of a pickle - neither one of us had brought a pack...

One might say luckily - but anyone who knows me knows that it's just due to a lack of fashion - I was wearing my camo cargo shorts, and I was able to stash my water bottle in one pocket, my sandwich in another, and still have a couple open for camera stuff. Pops, much more fashionably dressed - in some khaki cargo pants (lol) - did something similar. And we set off!

Check out the full story, and what I discovered at Lost Knife Knoll - in Into the Sierra Wilderness - We Set Out On Foot

Been a month or so. Not sure about lake level now, but there were tons of people at the launch by the store.

We're doing a light off road trip in nor nor Cal 10-23 if anyone is interested. Around Shasta Trinity NF, be an all day thing. Mostly 2wd dirt roads, a few easy 4wd sections, maybe one optional harder trail. Leaving from Fortuna in the mid morning.

Did the Old Yosemite/Old Coulterville Road today. Easy going but the brush was pretty tight in some spots and plenty of fallen trees.

No, the only detour I did was up to the fire lookout at Pilot Peak. Lots of smoke today so there wasn't much of a view unfortunately.

Had a fun time. 150 miles of dirt roads. Lunch on the route and some pewpew in the NF. Cool modded Subie came along, not an ideal off road beast... smoked the clutch on a hill climb, but it was okay-ish once it cooled down.

Main routes were NF23 Horse Ridge Lookout Rd, Pickett Peak Trail, Cedar Camp Rd, then lots of offshoots from them. Closest town is Mad River on Rt 36.

Nice! I'm surprised to see that much snow in Six Rivers, especially this early. You must have been damn high.

Believe we were around 5000'. Last few years it's been pretty similar in depth and location and I was told by a guy that worked logging in the 60s that it's actually pretty light by historical standards...?

Seems we would be snowmobiling in fair snow by now, mostly on FS roads, people heading to Bucks Lake, then partying for New Year's there.
