    Hey guys,
I wanted to get some opinions on this, I did a search and really couldn’t find exactly what I’m experiencing so here goes. 2019 double cab short bed, TRD Sport package and tech package. Brake pedal felt perfectly normal until the 800 mile point then all of the sudden the “feel” changed somewhat. It’s really hard to describe but when I lightly touch the pedal it feels almost like there’s a resistance, kind of a slight binding, as I increase the pressure it’s “overriding” the resistance and normal braking occurs. There’s no rhyme or reason and I can’t duplicate it all the time. There’s no noise to it just a feel.

The dealership replaced the booster and entire pedal assembly and no change. They drive it and say that it’s normal.

Funny thing is that when they gave me a loaner it was a ‘19 RAV4 and it did the exact same thing, no quite to the same extent as mine but still the same feel. I like to just get a clarification if this is a Tacoma or a Toyota thing or not. I was considering having them adjust the free play in the pedal as this only occurs when the pedal is pressed for the first 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch. I know that there has to be some free play for the brakes to operate correctly.

What say the Taco land brainiacs?

If this is normal as the mechanic says then I’ll live with it, it’s just not something that I’m not used to.

Well I just went out to the garage and pulled the brake light switch. Does anybody know if the plunger should be completely smooth throughout it’s travel? Mine has a bit of a rough spot or stutter when the plunger is about half way out. I can’t believe that it’d be that easy. I might pick up a new one tomorrow, if that’s not it we’ll then I guess I’ll have an extra brake light switch!

Can't see how the switch would affect feel but for a little piece of mind, sure why not. I think it's probably placebo.

Yea, quite possible. I’m just thinking that the plunger is against the pedal or the pad and it’s in the pedal where I’m feeling this. If a new/normal switch is smooth throughout its travel then this could be what I’m feeling. Hopefully NAPA will have one, I’m assuming that they’re somewhat universal.

I have a 19 and it definitely doesn't do this, so I'd say it's not normal...

If you're gonna go parts swappin, at least go OEM. The amount stick-tion in the switch would have to be super high for you to notice it with your foot lol. Still doesn't explain the RAV4 having the same feeling. I say live w it.
