Will the 3rd gen skid plates fits on 2nd gen tacoma?

The 16+ were updated with a useless access hole for the oil filter.

What's this for on the 3rd gen skids? I've seen it on aftermarket 3rd gen skids also.

That is a cut out for something (can't remember what) what hangs a bit low for the skid plate.

I thought the 2nd and 3rd gen front suspension and diff were all the same.

The 2nd and 3rd gen front suspension is nearly identical. I think the 3rd gen's have beefed up LCA cam tabs and the LCA's are slightly different (different part number anyway), but the diff housing and placement on the subframe is identical. Here's an RCI skid plate that fits both generations. As stated earlier, the bump-out is to clearance the diff so the plate can tuck up a little tighter.
