Short notice and late in the year isn't helping your cause. Plus, it's TW. There's really not that many hard off-roaders here. lol

Yosemite yesterday was pretty mellow, plenty of people but no traffic jams like I've found at other highly trafficked parks

I was just there a week ago and it was pretty relaxed. Usually any of the parks are alright after Labor Day weekend.

You could always just camp at Loon Lake on a Friday night and hope to find a group to do the trail with. Technically, it's really not that hard of a trail. If you do break and can't field repair it would be a very cold walk out though. I'm a huge fan of wheeling solo and have a pretty built rig and I don't know if I'd do it alone.

I'm getting a little squirrelly with a commitment to Dusy. Everything thing I've heard says it's not to be taken lightly and is likely more than I'd want to attempt when I have to be back at work on Monday morning. But I'm down to wander all around Shaver Lake, there are quite a few trails and a few will challenge an IFS truck.

My truck is pretty sturdy and I can usually fix it on the trail but.... I don’t like to risk going solo if I don’t have to. Iv had that work out very badly in the past lol

I'm able to roll Friday morning and have to back for work Monday. Working out of Hanford until the 15th, already have plans for veterans day weekend but the rest I'm free

Running the Dusy in two days would be doable if you wheeled from sunrise to sunset. Last year Thompson Hill took us the better part of 4 hours. I was up there 2 weekends ago. My 5 gallon water jug froze solid on the second night. It's gonna be cold but you'd probably have it all to yourselves.

There's so many other good trails around that area you really can't go wrong. Coyote Lake is probably the hardest that I've done in that area. Gatekeeper is the real deal and will challenge even the best IFS rigs. It's also about 1/3 the length of the Dusy. lol

I read your after action report on IFS, I'm intrigued. I love the big trees to pull from when you get stuck. With a second truck I'd have no concerns about trying the harder stuff.

Having crossed over from the jeep side I’m aware of the advantages of solid axles but Iv regularly outwheeled my friends rubicons on 35s.. biggest downfall of ifs is how easy it is to snap cv shafts but other than that, with a well built truck you can hang with the big boys
