I could also live in Wyoming or Montana. Utah...maybe but that’s a stretch. Beautiful state with a load to do outdoors but...you know what I’m referring to.

They tax military retirement like income. I had a list of states I was looking into. Texas, TN, FL panhandle were on the list. Colorado is on the list as of right now too, but thats only because I have job offers there.

Completely random but, Montana has a set number of liquor licenses. So, if you ever want to open up a restaurant and serve alcohol you’ll have to wait for or pay out the nose for a LL.

I know it’s been up before but hopefully they’ll pass something that exempts mil retirement.

Regardless. I could stomach paying taxes on my mil retirement if it means I’m happier than I am now.

AZ was on the list until I looked into that part. I did like flagstaff. If they pass a law without it, I will throw it back on the list. Wife has a few places she could get work at quickly in PHX.

Love the weather and the things to do. Its the rest of it... Thoughts might change once the wife gets a job and starts bringing in some sort of money.

I mean, Reno might be OK. It would be close to everything, plus no income tax! Maybe I'll be living next to @jberry813 in a few years.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

We're looking as well. My wife has become fixated on Texas... me not so much. I like the thought of Idaho, Montana, Utah and especially Wyoming.

Utah might be rising to the top. I have a really good job, that I like... and the owner of my company is in discussion, with investors, on starting a new Division in Salt Lake City.

Reno has been in the back of my mind.

As much as I hate this State, there are redeaming qualities. I love the spots that we go camping etc. I have some really good friends here... Reno would be just far enough away I could get in to Free(er) America but still come and visit.

California is a place I wouldn't mind visiting. I just no longer want to live in a place where I feel like I am outwardly unwelcome and my (literal) values, way of life, and basic rights are being purposefully violated.

That'll be my next research project. Already checked TN out. Its doable... just don't know a soul in that state. FL panhandle is an option for the jobs and lack of taxes. TX because TX. Negatives are the heat... and the heat. AZ is the same. Nevada as a whole intrigues me.

We own our house and in a few weeks will have 3 kids under 5 on what has been primarily a single income since we bought the house and started filling it with babies (2014).

I don’t work in tech nor do I make 6 figures. I also don’t receive any subsidized assistance or things of that nature from any organization or govt entity.

I don’t have a whole lot to complain about, but I’m a bit of a case study to those that think it’s impossible to live here and raise a family without being broke. Gas is annoyingly expensive and our car gets 14 MPG, so not exactly outside that group either.

Hopefully you find a spot you enjoy being in. This one for me isn’t perfect, but life is good here for many. My kids are spoiled to grow up in an area with such amazing access to everything our spot has to offer. I’m okay paying the price of admission.

I have had 2, seperate, friends move to Tenn without knowing anyone... they absolutely love it.

I just don't know how Tenn would go for me and my chosen career.
