    Like some said, lateral raises, reverse peck peck, upright row, lighter weight strict form press.. you're working shoulders during chest and back too so the bro science from a 150# marathon runner doesn't make sense.

    Pulled a slow 425 today. Hopefully be back over 450 in the next couple months. Starting a new program in a couple days so we’ll see how it works.

    So I failed on my first day of keto yesterday. I worked and had a older gentleman come into the bar. I’d guess mid to late 80s.

    We started talking about manipulating your diet as a means of treating illness. He was currently doing keto himself. He has stage 4 cancer and doing it to help treat the condition. He told me about how a year ago his oncologist recommended he start hospice since his prognosis didn’t look great.
    He said “yeah fuck that! I’m going to live”

    He asked if I’d have a beer with him so I did. (He took today off on his keto)

    I hope I’m like him when I grow up.

    I'm 6'4" 300lb and right around 19-20% BF. I have posted a pic before but its really nothing special lol just a large individual

    I train and compete in strongman, so I am trying to be as large and strong as possible for static lifts.

    I am actually on the smaller end of most strongman competitors... A lot are close to if not over 400lbs and my height or taller. But those guys are pretty hefty and slow, even at 300lbs I am still fairly quick and athletic which is good for moving events in the sport. Ideally, I'd like to be around 330lbs and around 16% bf.

    I’m prone to impingement. I had an injury a while back that left me with a partial frozen shoulder. Had to go to PT to get my range back etc. I really would like to avoid a repeat of something like that.

    My advice would be resolve the underlying issue rather than ignore it by modifying. The shoulder is the most poorly designed joint in the human body. Not strengthening it and your cuff leads to increased risk of injury.

    Lifters very frequently injure their shoulders with chest movements because thats the ultimate test of cuff strength under load. So you fail to strengthen it, its other movements that will get you in trouble, not the shoulder movement if that makes sense.

    A properly functioning shoulder should not be prone to impingement. A poorly functioning cuff leads to impingement because it means your bones aren’t tracking right. And outside of an existing tear or surgical limitation you should be able to balance that shoulder strength out.

    Also impingement movements typically happen below the clavicle, not above. You should be fine raising your hands above your head.

    This is why upright rows are a No No. they put your shoulders in an impinged position and the tendons get rubbed overtime against the bones... until one day the tendons weaken and tear. And its typically not painful until it tears and its too late.
