    I bought a brand new laptop from Dell about two years ago and it's been nothing but trouble. Granted, it was one of the cheaper models but I also knew I wouldn't use it for anything like photo processing or audio/video production - it was purchased to simply be an email workhorse and nothing more. I don't even have MS Office on this thing. No apps, no add-on software of any kind.

    It crashes. It takes forever to boot. The battery life is terrible even though it's never been run empty or exposed to any extreme temperatures. In short, it's more aggravating to use this thing than I would have imagined and there were times when I really had to hold myself back from using my fists to create a hole in the screen or turn the keyboard into a jig-saw puzzle. Dell has left a very bad impression on me and it's likely I will never purchase one of their products again.

    Technically most spinning drives pull from the 12v rail, the 9v rail, and the 3.3v rail.

    The fan is appropriate for the tiny amount of heat these underpowered all-in-ones put out. What isn't appropriate is destroying the proper airflow by leaving the cover off.
