Sometimes 2 turbos are simpler than one when you have two cylinder banks. A single turbo would require exhaust routing changes. Twins keep it generally the same. Plus two smaller turbos can spool sooner where most Tacoma drivers are dieing to have power down low. A single turbo with equivalent flow rate would spool later and at higher RPM.

I’ve never really followed this thread as much as the OVTune thread. This comment has to be one of my all time favorites here and I’ve always though the OVTune guy was completely bland and no humor. Very well spoken reply.

would be nice if the intercooler the kit came with sat slightly higher than the stock front license plate mount height so those of us with winches/aftermarket bumpers don't have issues. or can have two small intercoolers sit opposing sides higher up in the front column

We should create a wall of shame for the whiners that come in here and troll/crap on the thread because they feel a sense of entitlement and/or are showing their complete ignorance.

lol I love the “You’re the engineer, you should be able to fix this and have it on my desk and in motion by 1700 today” approach.

    sounds about right

The online whiner does get counterproductive these days in threads like this. You could also look at OVTune as an accomplished auto expert. To put it into perspective, if we only had the numbers, the normal Tacoma drivers out there would have sold their trucks long ago until the OVTune came along. Big props need to go to people that deserve recognition. In a lot of ways and the amount of post in his threads tells me he has help tighten the gap to fix the shortfalls of the 3rd gen and now is giving us high-performance parts as well. So not sure where someone feels they need to needle in OVTunes business for just to get a reaction.

I assume this way they can run 2 smaller turbos that spool faster giving more torque down low. But I'm just some random dude on the internet so wtf do I really know.

I think those are the stock turbos off the Lexus V35A, so makes sense that the packaging would work with the Tacoma...

Toyotas stock 3.5L turbos from the Lexus / new tundra.

This gives a viable top mounted option because they actually fit. A simple adapter plate is just needed

Top mount would be pretty awesome. The real question is where does this information put the TT kit development? Keep the current under mount setup with the KO4s or....

    So great question.
When I have a moment I'm going to whip up a 3D printed adapter.
    We will see.

These turbos on the V35A 440 ft lbs at 1600 rpm.

Wish I would of been able to obtain a pair months ago but these were nearly impossible to get.

Top mounts for the win! Do those basically bolt directly to the sides of the engine block? The flanges on the turbos at least look the same as the manifold mountings on the engine.
