Point the sensor up or down? The factory installed one has the sensor pointed down.

It really doesn't matter. As long as the sensor is in a good spot where it gets decent airflow, that's the main thing. We generally mount ours pointing up with the wires exiting down, but most any position should work just fine.

Awesome, glad to hear! These generally just work & work & work, month after month, year after year. I have a similar mirror in my truck that's been working flawlessly for a little over 18 years now...they're rock solid mirrors, Gentex makes and excellent product!

Anyone who's replaced their base mirror with a Gentex want to give (sell) that base mirror to me?

Thought I'd post a reply to this thread as it's gotten quiet over the past few months!! :) Just wanted to send everyone an update...we're still here & still selling mirrors amidst this covid-craziness! Hoping everyone is able to stay safe, healthy & sane during these times!

    Slightly modified
I’ll have a 2015 TRD OR soon and will need to upgrade the base mirror to a gentex. My 05 Tacoma had one installed by the distributor and I purchased one for my 06 Taco. I just don’t remember which model I want. My twin has my 05 and is going to let me know what model he has. I’ll be in touch soon to get a mirror. Once you have experienced autodimming, a standard just won’t do.

I totally agree! I have never been a fan of "flip" mirrors, when it comes to vehicles behind me with their brights on, even when I would "dim" a manual mirror, it would still be annoying. But with the auto dim mirror, the glass gets dark enough to where the lights are still very noticeable, but not annoying at all.

Ordered my mirror late Tuesday night, received the mirror Friday morning, installed by Friday evening!!! I just know this is going to be my favorite mod. My biggest pet peeve with my '14 OR was no ambient temp reading, so frustrating... So happy to have this resolved! I also used a mirror riser from Birddog industries, that's why the mirror sits so much higher now.

    Thanks Bob!

    Hi Bob,

I sent you an email to the email in the first post, looking forward to a quote!

Which relocation bracket is this? Looks handy.

What model is this? I’m looking for the same style, temp and compass in blue but no homelink.

This is the GNTX-455. I love it, one of my favorite mods. I was just in the mountains camping and it was 100+ degrees at the bottom and 80 degrees at the campsite. My stupid weather app was useless as it had no signal (like usual). Bob was great to work with, shipping was fast, quality product that was easy to install.
