Oh to an extent in college he owned the right to be who he was for sure. Cocky is more than fine if you play lights out. Tip-toeing across the line to d-baggery is where he lived though. Pro Baker is just a hillarious show to watch for now.

Leadership is my study, and I don't think there is a right way vs. a wrong way in general.

I think where LSU is in development as a program, they need the vocal, accountability driven leader that is brash and boisterous. He is helping to create a culture. Setting standards. Depending upon the next QB, this will probably continue for a few more years if LSU maintains the development of the culture of the LSU Football brand. Once new players buy in to the standard, the QB's in the future wont have to be as vocal. They'll just have to perform and manage accountability.

At Alabama, Tua doesn't need to do that. QB's before him have already done so. Tua has to perform, lead, develop, grow and bring others along the journey. He also has the benefit of having other players be vocal, that are respected enough by the team to do so. I think Tua would step into that role easily if needed. But the standard of "Alabama Football" has already been set, the culture created. Tua simply needs to hold himself accountable to that standard and help others do the same.

Plus, Saban rips enough ass on the sideline, Tua doesn't need to....lol.

can't disagree with any of that, spot on. I'm glad LSU finally has a QB creating this culture, just wonder with this being his final year if it's too little too late.

It isn't Burrow creating it. It's Coach O. Burrow is the tool Coach O is utilizing to set those standards and culture at a player level. Burrow happens to be the guy that is balling out right now.

Also, keep an eye defensively for a "QB". Once you get an absolute stud on the defensive side of the ball, Coach O will start pressing him to be a vocal leader that will create the culture specifically on the defensive side of the ball.

If this sounds familiar, its because this is exactly what Saban, Dabo and other coaches have done.

You set standards, create buy in, lean on the performers to push others, develop quickly and succeed.

Sustaining this is the hard part. Saban has developed Alabama's program fairly deeply. Typically has a player on the offensive side of the ball that pushes others and helps create the culture, (Ingram, McCarron, Julio, Damian Harris, etc.) and then you move to the defensive side, (Minkah Fitzpatrick, Javier Arenas, Dante Hightower, Quinnen Williams, etc.)

In this level of the development, you now have the following people developing the team:

    Head Coach
    Coordinators
    Positional Assistants
    Field Generals and Upperclassmen.

That is when it becomes sustainable. However, if you examine the Alabama defense this year, there arent many upperclassmen to help develop. Not many "field generals". That's why Alabama is probably going to lose 2 games. The youth is plentiful on that side of the ball. I'd expect next year to be quite different. Will have much more experience and development.

I'll also say that Saban benefited quite heavily from the Richt years at Georgia and Urban Meyer leaving UF. There have been a LOT of players that chose Bama over those two programs because Richt was mediocre and Urban left. Saban also benefited from the gradual decline of Texas with Mack Brown and crazy ass Les Miles at LSU.

You'll notice now that Kirby, Coach O, Herman, Mullen and others around the area that are excellent recruiters that the talent is starting to even out a bit.

eh I'd say LSU was on par talent wise every year with Alabama, NFL numbers show that.

The coaching was declining. Talent stayed the same. Fair enough.

All of this change is good for the SEC as a whole. It was a one trick pony there for a minute and that's no fun. Its a whole lot better when you know your conference has 3-5 legitimate playoff quality contenders. The SEC is on its way back to being a conference that eats itself from the inside. Now there are 4 spots for the playoff, instead of 2.....

Every other conference in unison: "They wouldnt put 4 SEC teams in, would they?"

(Turning the knife in the backs of every other conference.)

haha yes. I hope there are legitimate contenders, but they have to beat bama to prove that, probably have to beat them twice. then we will know that the league is competitive again.

I did see Tua rip into (I believe) Jeudy last week. Looked like maybe Jeudy ran the wrong route or cut it short maybe? And Tua jumped on him coming back to the huddle. If I was a bama fan, I would love seeing that.

I dont agree, necessarily. I dont think Bama is the outright "bar" so-to-speak. Especially this year.

With the intro of the playoff, the committee is putting in the 4 best teams. Based on precedence, that doesn't mean the conference champions. A week ago, I would have said that LSU and UGA were going to be in the playoff, but, then UGA went and Clempsoned against FUCKING SOUTH CAROLINA...holy shit....I still cant believe that. lol. Must be too close to Knoxville...

But, hey, I can totally see a time with the current head coaches in the SEC that its possible for 3 teams from the SEC to be in.

Coach O has some voodoo going on in LSU
Mullen has an offense with a fiery defense
    Kirby is methodically dominant
MSU and Ole Miss could be relevant in a couple years
Saban will be gone and Dabo will be back in Bama.

I mean, sheesh....what do you expect really?

Meeeeechigan is ride or die Hairballs, Ryan Day at OSU isnt proven yet. (I expect him to be better than Tressel, though) James Franklin at PSU is maintaining, Wiscy is legit.
Oregon, well.....I dont think they will ever be better than the Chip Kelly days, Stanford is too strict on academics, USC, lol....USC.
Texas is steadily improving, OU will need a new head coach soon, Baylor is banned (right?) and the rest of the B12 is questionable at best.
As far as the ACC goes, well....Mack Brown will soon be the best head coach in the conference.

They interviewed Tua on that, and it was simply miscommunication. Jeudy saw one thing, Tua saw another and they were on different pages for that play.

I think Jerry Jeudy is working on his draft stock. Tua wants to help. Hell, Tua wants to help all 4 receivers...lol.

If my team wasn’t in it there’s no way I could root for a rival team from the same conference. I’m a huge Syracuse basketball fan but I never want to see Duke or UNC win a game, less make it to the final four. I don’t understand the mentality of the SEC fans. I could care less about the conference, it’s my team vs everyone.

Depends on the team for me, if they're a team that's caused issue for/with LSU then F 'em, but if they're a team that just exists in the same conference then I'll pull for them against other conference because it makes LSU stronger.

F Alabama and F Florida, always. The others....meh depends on who they play.

I guess old Big East basketball ingrained in me the hatred for any other team in my conference. Seeing UConn win championships pissed me off as much as watching DePaul win a game or Georgetown.

I'm not petty enough to not root for another team in the same conference, specifically in the playoffs. You're starting to see that Clemson isnt getting as much credit because the rest of the ACC is a joke. Bama was criticized for that as well a few years ago, that their conference opponents werent that strong....

Plus, when LSU. Auburn, UT, UGA, UF is good, it makes for a much better season. Gnashing of teeth and whatnot.

I mean, does anyone give two shits about the USC vs. Notre Dame rivalry that was kinda fun in the early 2000's? No. Does anyone care about the OSU vs. Michigan rivalry? How about Alabama vs. UT? These are GREAT rivalries. Nobody really cares. Because one of those teams has been dominant for so long.

Its been 4700+ days since UT beat Alabama. Blah. Boring.

OSU has owned Michigan forever now. Bleh.

LSU and Alabama is still fun, kinda, but mainly because Saban coached at both places. NOW its fun because LSU is legitimate. Much more interesting. I mean, if LSU wins, I'll be pissed, but I'll tip my hat respectfully, because now the series is interesting again. I fucking HATED the honey badger....but he was good. I hated Ford, Blue and every fucking wide receiver LSU ever had. They were good. It made losing to LSU suck and beating LSU great. Now, Alabama is just supposed to beat LSU. Supposed to mop the floor with Auburn and UT. Its expected, in a sense. That's why people love beating Alabama.

I like LSU because they fight hard, are in the SECW and have exceptional talent. Now they have a coach. This is fun.

Who's gonna end up in the SEC championship? NOBODY KNOWS!!!! Could be UGA and Bama, could be UF and LSU. Maybe Auburn finds a way to sneak in somehow.

I like seeing the SEC do well for the same reason - if the other SEC teams are good, and we win the SEC, it makes us look better. It was a foregone conclusion that Clemson would go undefeated because the rest of the ACC is terrible. I’m not saying Clemson isn’t good - they’ll prove they are once again in the playoffs, in my opinion - but until they play a decent team OOC, they just haven’t seemed impressive because of how bad the rest of the ACC is.

I will say I absolutely despise Florida, Tennessee, and auburn and I don’t want them to win a thing. However, football in general is better when those teams are good.

I mean, I think its funny how bad UT is. It really is comical.

As far as Auburn goes....that's like the little brother hate. I'm allowed to hate em, and watch them suffer....but I want them to kick everyone else's ass. I want Alabama to be the cause of their pain and suffering. LOL.

Same kinda goes for LSU, except, I like it when it is back and forth a bit.
