Sorry to hear you're trapped behind enemy lines... Every time I get sent to the PRK for work I thank my lucky stars when I leave again!

They can get your DNA from your garbage that you put on the curb. If they want it, they will get it.

The LDS church has been collecting records for a looong time now. They can tell you your lineage but instead, they sell you a way to find it very slowly and charge you by the month. I was in a car accident and was off work for 2 months. I was bored and downloaded the app. Addicting AF.

Don’t throw away your tooth brush, soda cans and bottles. Cigar and cigarette butts, etc.

I'm in Georgia, we don't have them fancy teeth brush things and we save our cans and bottles for targets...

I did it to see just what kind of breeding adventures my ancestors were involved in resulting in a mess like me. Turned out to be a pretty lively euro trash love fest.

I can claim almost any country in Western Europe except for France. What a relief... :woot:

    :sorry:

How can you access this info when shopping for a 2020? I would like to know that my manual transmission wasn't trashed by the lot boy between the time it arrives and the time the dealer tells me it is there?

You guys with the tin foil hats. Everything you do is tracked. You are tracked while being on this website. Your internet provider knows. Google knows.

it’s 2019 - if you think you aren’t tracked w every transaction of your credit/debit etc. it is all out there. Big Data isn’t going away.

Probably the same tin foil hats that said computers were of the devil. Yet here you are on a website on a phone/computer.

So what's your point? Just accept it and all of the potential consequences? Move along, nothing to see here, citizen?

This "well you can't do anything about it so just take it" attitude is what gets us in these messes in the first place.

Do you think you can do anything about it???

what are you going to do? Write your congressman? It’s going to be on all vehicles. What harm is it really going to do to you?

    What mess are we in?

My point is it’s laughable that everyone is so up in arms about it.

Cool that it notes your lat and long when you have a mechanical issue. Tough to just say you were in the parking lot when it happened out in the mountains.

Know of a guy who took his Bullitt Mustang in for service. Tech was personal friend. Tech asked him (in private) "Where in the hell around here were you doing 140+ for over 2 minutes?"
    Michigan International Speedway...club event. :D
This technology's been around for a while...

Sure. I drive a truck that doesn't collect data, watch how I behave on the internet, and feed junk data anytime I can. I would write my congressman, except I think they're all pretty useless at the moment.

The question of harm and the mess we're in. Oh boy. The mess we're in is that people just accept having every bit of data about their lives slurped into some computer with no expiration date, no rules for how its used, and no guarantee that it won't leak into the wrong hands. This data describes everything about your activities. And it won't go away. Ever.

The harm? We could start with the mundane - warranty denials and insurance rate hikes come to mind. We could go a little scarier - automated traffic tickets, a driving score that determines what/when/where you're allowed to drive (a la credit score, or china's social credit score), or even pay-by-the-mile taxes. Or there's the question of "What happens when toyota gets hacked?" - will we have some environmental protestors on our doorsteps?

As far as I'm concerned, companies and governments have proven that they can't be trusted with data, and they're a liability because they all suck at security. The only thing that is laughable here is how much people aren't paying attention and have no imagination.
