Good project

 

For anyone thinking about ordering fabrication parts, don't order from Comp4x4. Emailed them twice about an order, no response. Took my money and its been sitting there for a week and a half with no communication. Probably be opening a PayPal dispute after reading that others have had the same issue happen with orders not being filled. I like their products, but I can't wait for someone that won't even communicate with their customer.

 

That sucks. Good thing it went through PayPal though.

@Jerneyman dis you have any flex in the 2x2 tube with your first hinge setup?

you had a couple good wheeling trips with that setup

 

Not unless I climbed on it like a baboon. The flex was there, but it was minimal. So much so that I didn't notice while driving. I think your setup will be fine though since its paired with a beefy latch. My newest revision for my latch reduced what flex I had in the first setup.

Trying to figure out the best way to gusset it also. Thinking 3/16” plate on the top side at the hinge running from the hinge to the 45* tube that will support tire mount.

Or tie the 45* support into the hinge

this is OVtunes doings, i'm just living vicariously because I just don't know that I can drop 5-6k more on this truck for more power.

I feel I'd be better off waiting for toyota to never give me a better factory option lol.

 

you are better off with a crawl box

 

to be fair a crawl box only benefits off road, these benefit all the way around.

if i had to pick i'd go turbos, but i'm probably not ever going to see either

 

Your truck isn’t much built for street driving though.

 

you right about that, money will be going towards a nicer DD before I put any more into the truck.

 

That's kind of what I'll be doing. How long is that piece of DOM tubing in the assembly? Little over 4 inches?
