When will you be in the area? If we can't coordinate a wheeling trip we should at least get the SD brew crew together for a few beers. :drunk:

    Nice!
The line here for Costco is miserably long not to mention its not a convent drive from the house either.
Costco is not an option unless I go shopping.

I think that's a bit further south of me but I'd be down to meet up with you guys if you and some of the local crew down there plan a trip. I'll follow along in the thread and see what comes up

not suggesting you do any of the trails solo but if you just want to get a taste of the rubicon, you could do loon lake -> wentworth springs road and back out without too much trouble assuming you have a spotter and a winch just in case. Any further than that, you will want to roll with at least another rig you can trust. I ran it back in August with a couple of guys and made it through relatively ok (busted my driveshaft and bent my transfer case skid but driver error and totally avoidable). If I had done any maintenance or upgrades since then, I would consider going out with you.

    1. true
    2. mostly true though most of us dont exclude anyone but rather invites on trips can be clique-y (but I know what you're referring to). With that being said, Theres a Norcal TW trip down to bald mountain next weekend if you're going to be around the area (https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bald-mountain-october-25-27.632483/). Nothing crazy challenging but good trip to hang out and get some wheeling in.
    3. 100% agreed.

You mentioned being in the tahoe area this weekend in the norcal thread. Trying to see if I can make some time and hit some trails with you on Sat. Thinking maybe slick rock and sour grass (pretty mellow) but i'll let you know.

There's some really fun trails around my area and there is a lot of them. There's a few that are hard-ish but when I want to go wheel hard I end up driving to Shaver, Tahoe, or Johnson Valley. With that said, Bishop is the only place I want to live. For my lifestyle it trumps every other place I've been to. Which is a lot since I lived out of my van for 6 years climbing as much as possible and working as little as possible. I've been coast to coast 5 times and Mexico to Canada 4 times. For me Bishop will always be where I belong.

@markus30 Since you are road tripping you should really check out the East Side of the Sierra. There's not much culture but there's more outdoor rec then you could imagine. Just shoot down the 395 on your way south. It will be worth the visit. If you want any beta just let me know. I'd be happy show you around a bit if schedules work out.

We were already making a plan to wander around Shaver Lake but holy shit that's a big group for that trail, I was annoyed last weekend following a group of 3 that was going a bit slower than I wanted to.

lol yeah. This is why most of the NorCal trips aren’t public on tw and are done in the dm’s. You get everyone coming out but it’s a good time. I look at it as a big ass camping trip with some wheeling. It can become a shit show on the trail. Then again I’d bet 1/4 that list bails last minute

Figured maybe it was better in CA...but sounds like it is consistent everywhere.

and half the remaining quarter arrive at the meeting spot to immediately announce "but before we hit the trail, I gotta get gas and make a stop at the liquor store." :annoyed:

Thankfully my go-to group usually meets at a particular flying J / rest stop so it is all close by. It just bugs the fuck outta me. Esp since the most frequent offender is a former spec ops dude who I know is on the ball when it's game time.

Hey Bro! Just wanted to thank you for taking the time sharing your f’ng cool adventure with all of us. You got my own brain thinking on what type of x-country trip I can do. Thanks.

BTW.. what camera are you using? You took some great shots.
