It rarely is worth buying them back when they're this new. The frame is likely gooched

Damn that sucks, happy you're okay. Don't forget to go back and get all your aftermarket stuff off the truck. Like those rims and any other mods you did to the truck that are salvageable. The rock sliders and everything else, if there's a bed cover go get it. The insurance company most likely won't pay you for these in the loss of the truck. If you have your old stock wheels somewhere go swap them out. Most of the time wrecking yards will allow you to do this

It’s too late for that. I had released the vehicle to insurance and they told me I couldn’t grab those things but that if I had receipts they could reimburse a portion of it. So I kinda got effed because they hardly covered it. Was a joke. But on the plus side they did value it higher than what I had paid for it so it’s kind of came out in the wash.

Always add a rider onto your policy for aftermarket accessories. Cost me about $50 a year for 5K coverage. You only need receipts if you ever file a claim.

So you ran into the back end of a semi trailer? Did you just run out of room on the pass or just pull out to the right and, BAM!
Just having a hard time picturing someone running into the back of slower moving vehicles, like big trucks and other big freeway maintenance machinery. Unless of course you were distracted, blinded or getting a blowie at the time.

Salvage buy back is likely is the high teens and what are the sum of the parts now worth on this truck?

The frame is toast, the airbags are blown, the front sheet metal is now all junk, the driver door is junk, the coolers are all junk and so what are left with?

    (3) doors
    The bed
The drive train (The engine, trans and transfer case likely don't have a big enough market to warrant a buy back it's not an LS LOL)
    The rear axle
A wheel set ( The left front is debatable )
Other misc bits and bobs with a non existent market and you get the joy of dealing with every idiot who wants to beat you down in price as you have the sad remains of a carcass in your driveway. Some will say sell on here, well sadly some people have no idea what it cost to ship things in this post Amazon prime free shipping world. One is supposed to be like Chewy and just ship shit and lose their ass doing it

It sounds like he took the insurance cash, glad to hear he got more than he thought. However to your expertise on buy backs, you have no idea from looking at 3 photos on the amount this insurance company will price it as. I see these repaired salvage Tacoma's advertised for 22-32K all the time. His Buy Back will be less than CoPart I'm sure. I was trying to make sure the OP got good information, you with 5449 posts didn't see that.

Would you rather have had it go to a shop your insurance company Recommended to fix it because they cut corners and give discounts, had to deal with used and aftermarket parts, and been without your truck for 4-6 weeks and exhausted your rental coverage(if you even have it) and had to pay out of pocket until it was fixed. And then live the rest of your ownership thinking that it wasn’t fixed right every time you heard a noise?

You got best possible outcome, and you got more than you paid.

charge it to the game and go get another one.

I hope you are all ok. I also hope the insurance company does you right.
Now when you go truck shopping you will know what you want and do not want. Get in there and get your mods out before it goes into the crusher, Looks like someone will have a 2020 soon. I know the ill feeling you get when you wreck your ride, but that will pass. Like so many others. mentioned, everyone is ok.
