If Toyota's system thinks it's a Canadian truck/VIN, the App suit, weather, traffic and gas price checks all get removed.

Thats a good point. Same with Hawaii I think. I beleive I remember some threads about that. OP, where are you located and do you have a history of the truck? Put the VIN in toyotaowners site and see.

It was originally sold in HI. Not sure what difference that makes if I’m in Georgia now.

If it was sold in Hawaii it was a Sevco vehicle and apps are locked out. Does not matter where you are now. Your best bet is to buy a used unit pulled from a member that put in an aftermarket one and see if they will let you use their VIN.

That was supposed to say SERVCO. It's basically the vendor that the vehicles go through for Hawaii. I dont know if all vehicles use it or just Toyota. Maybe someone from the island can help @kahanabob

Did not know about Hawaii also being affected, so I would guess Alaska gets "de-apped" also.
Guess you guys are not 'Merican enough. Lol

It's got to be some kind of licensing issue.

FYI The apps, including gas, weather and traffic all work in Canada...
Gas uses phone and GPS data. Traffic is HD radio.

It wasn't until I registered my VIN with the Entune App that I then,
got a notification to upgrade the software on the stereo,
That's when they were all gone from the head unit. :bananadead:

I tried to wipe Entune 2.0 off my phone and then re-installed it with a different email and a US VIN..
All the Apps were back on Entune on the phone,
but they never came back on the stereo... :rimshot:
Nor would the US registered Entune recognize my Canadian VIN# when I tried to enter that in the phone software. :poking:

Gas was handy, search for the best price and dump the address into the Nav,
and since I use the built in Nav the traffic would have been nice to keep too.
Weather.... Eh, I have windows so don't really miss that,

the rest was trash to me....

I wonder if there is a way to "Hard Reset" or re-flash back to factory settings/software.... Should/maybe be doable at the dealer.
That'll "fix" the head unit, but you'd still have to open a case with Toyota to get your VIN moved over to the American list for Entune. If that is even possible.

My opinion is it's more work that it's worth... lol even making a phone call to open a case as you aren't missing anything with those apps anyways.

Someone did steal your app suite. They’re called Toyota and they keep removing features.

Carmax advertised with the truck having it, they'd be my first stop.

Weather comes through HD radio. Try using the voice feature to "show weather" or "show doppler radar." The weather app is neat, but the truck already has outdoor temperature elsewhere, and the forecast on wunderground is far more detailed. Still, after the doppler feature via voice command was pointed out to me here on TW, I will use it on occasion to see if I'm driving into (or out of) a storm.

I will also say this, as a paid, loyal subscriber to Slacker: the slacker app on Entune is less than useless. Its easier to just launch slacker on your phone and stream it to the radio via bluetooth. Same goes for I heart radio. Way back in 2016 the app suite included facebook notifications, which never worked, and thats why they got rid of it.

The Tech guy at Toyota center near me said the Entune can add my VIN back in and gave me their number. Haven't had a chance to call yet but not holding my breath.

I wish there was a way to delete iHeart Radio and Slacker, I will never use them and they only cause frustration when changing modes on the steering wheel.

So, just off the phone with Toyota (they were very nice!!). My VIN says on Toyota's records as just having the base Entune audio. Had to convince them that I indeed have the Entune™ Premium Audio with Integrated Navigation and App Suite and referenced the fact that the truck was first sold in HI. Then they gave me instructions on how to sort. BUT, i'll have to wait until 3 PM my time to call Servco in HI and have them manually re-enter my VIN into Entune. Will keep all that care posted.

The nice part about the Entune APP is that you can do your destinations on the app and then use them on the Navigation system.

This has to be a known issue right? No on seems to have ever heard of it. I called a dealership in CA and they were unaware. Id like to think that somewhere somebody has gotten this sorted. It’s still under warranty.

I truly believe it all comes down to the VIN. I THINK Servco gives Toyota a list of VINs and their features list is changed to show it only has Entune Audio (basic radio). So that the Entune app will not connect with your HU because it thinks it doesn't exist. That's why Toyota keeps telling me I only have basic. If it was changed before it can be changed again. I just haven't found the department with the ability, authority and willingness to do it.
