    Can any of the LT255/80R17 Nitto Ridge Grappler owners out there confirm if the tire has a 2ply sidewall or a 3ply sidewall. Can't seem to find a clear answer anywhere. Thanks in advance.

    It's an E rated tire?, 10 ply side wall. D is an 8 ply, C is an 6 ply. In Nitto's Web page

    Load Range is not indicative of the sidewall plies in a tire. Load Range has to do with the load carrying capacity of a tire.

    There are Load Range E tires that have 3 sidewall plies and there are Load Range E tires that have 2 sidewall plies. Just as there are Load Range C tires have have 2 sidewall plies and some Load Range C tires that have 3 sidewall plies.

    People commonly get confused because C is a Ply Rating of 6 and E is a Ply Rating of 10. Ply Rating is not the same as Ply Count.

    Exactly.

    Hopefully somebody with the Ridge Grapplers can read their sidewall and tell us if if says 2 plies or 3 plies. Interested in these tires but not so much if they only have 2 sidewall plies.

    I'm looking at getting new wheels and tires next month for my 19 TRD OR. Will probably go with 255/80/17 wildpeaks. Wheels will be 17x9 with a -12 offset. I'm lifted 2" in the front and 1" in the back. My concern is rubbing with the negative wheel offset. Does anyone have a simar lift/wheel offset running this tire that can give me some advice? I already removed the front mudflaps, I just dont want to hack up the truck too much....

    FWIW - Falken lists the max rim width at 8.5 inches for the 255/80/r17. Just something to consider if your set on a 9" wheel

    Definitely too wide of a wheel. I’d be hesitant to go over 8” unless you want to trash your wheels. I have the 4Runner SEMAs (edit: 7” wide)/ wildpeaks and already have rock rash

    The Sema wheels are only 7” wide. I’ve got them on my truck too with the 255/80 Wildpeaks.

    Nice! I like it. I thought I was the minority who prefer the skinny profile. I think it looks better myself. So sick of seeing all these trucks on the road with tires sticking out three feet from the fender.

    7 inch wide SEMA wheels work very well in this size. I would not go 9" Especially if you air down on trails.

    If you run 7” wide wheels you should be pretty safe with these 10 ish inch wide tires. I still managed to mess my wheels up a bit, but that’s more because of the large loose rocks I was messing around in vs tire/wheel width.

    Beautiful. I have been looking through this forum looking for assurance but wasnt feeling confident with all the different rim set ups and mostly 3rd gens posting. I have an 06 with the same 4Runner rims and just ordered 255/80r17 Falkens today. Did you have to do anything special (mold plastic, cutting) looks like you still have front mudflaps thats a positive. Super excited to see this, nice rig man.

    If you turn in reverse, turning off a steep driveway, or flex offroad in any kind of turn you will absolutely tear off stock mud flaps. Even the aftermarket flat/skinny ones would rip off of mine. Was the same deal on my 1st and 2nd gens
