Anyone do custom fabrication stuff for relatively affordable prices?! Looking to have a hybrid or prerunner type bumper built.

Pls feel free to share users below who do this type of thing.
    Thanks!!

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
Custom and relatively affordable do not belong in the same sentence.

Anything custom will be 100% to 200% more then production parts in the same category and quality.

I suppose you are right haha, I feel like there's gotta be some guys out there that I could work with and provide materials for and pay them by the hour or something like that. Lol, maybe I'm just crazy.

Materials are the cheap part. It's the hours of design and labor that get really expensive on a custom job.

What JLee said usually custom fab shops you can look to pay easily 100/hr plus supplies for someone really worth their salt. You'll find cheaper guys that are just as good but someone that knows there worth usually charges accordingly.

What do you want a bumper, sliders, etc.? You are probably best just buying those from a vendor on here. Cheaper than getting an actual fab shop to do it. There are some guys around that can do them cheaper than the vendors but they may not be completely up to par with the vendors. Some will be though. You get what you pay for with that stuff.

Some of the cost of production parts goes to covering the overhead of running a shop. If you find someone working out if their garage, that does fab work as a side hustle, they might be able to charge a lot less since they don’t have many bills to pay. The only profit they need is to cover their labor (which could be pretty low if they just do it for extra money). It’s a different ballgame if you run a large shop with expensive equipment, multiple employees, insurance, etc to cover with relatively low volume (compared to the millions of blickies some big corporation would sell).

There’s always the DIY option too. Never to late to learn a new skill.

Thanks! this was helpful. I considered doing it on my own, but I feel like going through the process of buying a welder and everything and just hoping it works out may not really be worth it, which is why I'm searching for a smaller company or someone like you said, who is just doing it for some side money.
