Read the first few pages, but this thread is very long. Whats the general consensus on the Tacomabeast headlights? How have they held up?

Have had mine for only about a month no issues. But picked them up on Amazon much cheaper than Tacomabeast with a 4 year warranty from square trade for like $10

Ok, many people have asked about having the led bar on with just the DRL's and I have finally found the time to implement my theory on getting it done.....

The main reason I wanted to do this was I like having the led bar on during the day, but find it annoying having to swap swap the stereo brightness depending on day and night. Now, the stereo brightness will be controlled by the headlight settings!

-First step is to do a fog light anytime mod. I did NDR's method about a yr ago and have been happy with it.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...no-splicing-no-bending-100-reversible.309407/
There are other ways, choose your favorite.

-Next I went and cut the wire in the wire harness for the lights that powers the led bar. It is the green wire that goes to the far outside connector.
-Attach a but connector to the light side of the wire and run 1.5-2' of wire down below the light to the fog lights. I used a splice connector to attach the added wire to the fog light + side.

Step back and make sure the lights work at the right settings!

Pardon all the questions, how does it switch between high and low beam?

Has anyone pulled the factory projects out then did retrofits and xkglow switchback led’s in the drl tubes for the 05-11 headlights? The switchbacks would allow you to use them as turn signals (amber) and as drl’s (white).

I have had these lights for about 2 yrs or so with HIDs installed. I have been very happy once I sealed one of the lights.

I am tired of the HIDs though. I seem to burn out a bulb, or ballast every 4 months or so, and you need to remove the entire housing to change them.

The HID that came installed in them from the start is a H11 bulb.
I looked at new housings and the come with H7.
    The truck comes with H4

What bulbs should I be looking for as these all have different connectors, and I assume shape.

Anyone have input on a h9/h11 LED bulb that works well with these?

I'm new to these HID lights but I want my 05 to look newer. I'm looking at these from protuninglab. Would the 4,300 be alright? I don't want to be that asshole blinding people on the road. Or should I just stick with the normal LED halo lights to be safe? https://www.protuninglab.com/05totaduhale2.html

If you get projector housings you won't blind anyone as long as you aim you headlights properly. I have 55k in mine and I don't blind on coming traffic.

Depends on what kit you get. I have the DDM ultra canbus kit, which is their best one, I do not need the relay with that kit. Its all plug and play without an extra wire harness or relay.

When I got the kit from protuninglab with 4300k hids.
I bought it from them as it would still have a warranty, where all the other companies said it would kill the warranty.
30 days into ownership, one of the headlights was full of water from faulty sealing from the factory. When I contacted them about warranty they told me to go buy sealant (with my $) and fix it myself.
Both of the hid bulbs were dead within 6 months, and 1 ballast within the yr.

I like the lights, but if I were to do it again I'd just buy from the cheapest dealer and add my own hid bulbs. I'd get quality instead of what protuning lab sticks in them.

I did not get the relay kit.

Ahh dang, that sounds like a nightmare. Doesn't look like I'll be going with protuning lab. I already have hid bulbs and I'm also getting a ARB front bumper shipped in. While I'm changing modding the front end I'd like to do some new headlights.
