Disable that damn door buzzer!

you should only hear the ding ding ding with door closed and key to ON.

door open will cause the buzzer with key OFF or in without ON/RUN. however those with DRL may be different with the mod?

also with 01+ it should not have the headlight noise at all, they get shut off when you open the door and key OFF (thanks to the courtesy light function)

 

I referenced the " ding noise when lights are on" only because others had mentioned that as being a problem with doing the mod. There seems to be many variations between all the years of first gen. That issue whether real or not does not matter to me. Right now the ding from my door being open while key is in has been resolved by the mod in this thread. My issue now is that when the door is open or closed, when I put the key to ON ,it makes 5 dings. The same dings that were present for open door but just a different speed. I'm assuming it has to do with the ignition circuit because it did not go away when I disconnected the door circuit. I'm asking if anyone out there has figured out how to override the dings that my year of truck does when the key is put to ON.

 

i was unaware of that feature, might be nice to have that! (i don't) it buzzes at me to shut lights off


another reason i got me into a Tacoma instead of a Nissan ... I found the Nissan door chime a bit too unsettling compared to Toyota door chime

 

yeah that's a different circuit (ignition vs door). not sure there is a way to disable that though unless there is some weird speaker/piezzo located under the dash

I just had to try it when I left work.

the dam thing IS the seat belt warning. Just clasp the seat belt and it will not sound when you turn the key

I tried with door open and closed, and seat belt unhooked. unhooked, dinged 5 times. hooked, no ding at all !


so @Dirty White next time you leave the kiddo in the truck, just buckle the seat belt and you'll be fine

Hallefreakinluja! Frizzman....you are my favorite person right now. I don't think I have ever put my seatbelt on before starting my trucks. Laughable for sure. Thanks a million!
