Had someone do that for me while installing my lift...still unnerving. Although recently cut holes in my fender to add a snorkel myself. Now that is a difficult thing to start. Once you do, well...cut away! Congrats on making room for larger tires! Doing it yourself is more than I could do at the time.

Air bags a cool and work. I know. I put them on my work truck. But I found I needed more. How much more weight would you guess that they are helpful and how much to render them not enough. Hope that made sense.

I'm still experimenting, but anything over payload and you're looking at replacing the leaf pack (of course, it's not recommended carrying more than payload because of wheel bearings/seals, brakes, etc.). My camper fully loaded probably weighs 1,500 lbs, and the airbags handle the weight just fine with the stock springs, but add my 250lb KTM on the trailer hitch rack, or pull my 14' fishing boat, and I'll be pushing it. I'll probably end up replacing the stock leafs with something like the Icon RXT here in the option 2 position... :notsure:

I thought about replacing the "carriage bolts" with a better grade, but this is what came with the installation kit. They're not holding any weight besides the plastic Daystar cradle to the top of leaf pack, and there's 4 of them (bolts)...

All the Firestone/Torque installs use the same bolts as also seen here. When I replace the leaf springs, I'll probably look at getting a better grade with an unthreaded shank...

I maxed my ford work truck weight and air bags wasn’t enough. But I like them in addition to more leafs as sometimes I’m even much heavier and the air bags work.

    Dilemma Help.
Hypothetically, if you were gonna upgrade from a 2009 , (A) would you go with the second year of the 3rd Gen ? or (B) try to find a clean 2014 - 2015 of the second Gen.? Forget the cost. Talking durability and dependability. V6 Auto

I'm no power user. But I was searching in my area for used Tacomas. I bought new because used prices were just nuts. Sure you may get some guy's mods. And I lot of you I would love your mods. But random modder? Same price as new? Made my decision easy.

Asking that in a what have you done to your 3rd gen today forum? I am sure you will get a lot of unbiased opinions here. Lol. Joking aside, a few real thoughts.
    1) there really isn't enough info to determine the reliability and dependability of the 3rd gen. Three years data just isn't enough. But we all know it's solid. Thats why we are all here. Just pick the one you like and move on.
    2) My opinion? If price isn't a concern you are comparing a 2 year newer truck that should have less miles. To a truck with 8 year old technology? If you can afford the newer there would have be something damming about it or a crazy good deal on the older to even make that a choice worth thinking about.

Good luck with whatever you pick and roll on.
