If that's on the outside, that looks like it's going to require using sandpaper with progressively smaller grits. I'd do a small test area first. Otherwise it may just be best to buy new headlights.

If that is into the plastic beyond the protective clear coat, it is called 'crasing' and it is too deep to sand out. It would probably return anyway.

I had the clear coat on my headlights start to bubble and peal away. I took the truck to a shop that restored headlights and they got them fixed for me and also installed a clear headlight bra to keep the new clear coat protected.

You can make 'em better. About 15 minutes, some Maguire's liquid rubbing compound, and a 3" foam pad on a drill will do it. I didn't get crazy on these (sanding, etc) because they're cracked and will eventually be replaced. But a little time and elbow grease gave an improvement.

    Dilemma Help.
Hypothetically, if you were gonna upgrade from a 2009 , (A) would you go with the second year of the 3rd Gen ? or (B) try to find a clean 2014 - 2015 of the second Gen.? Forget the cost. Talking durability and dependability. V6 Auto

Pretty much what these guys have said. I'd try wet sanding with some pretty fine grit and then move on to the liquid rubbing compound. I think they even sell one called Plastic-X (or something like that) that is pretty readily available.

WeatherTech makes a headlight guard that you can install. I think they are about $40 and a PITA to install....but they'll keep your headlights looking like new for a LONG time.

^^^Looks like they have gone up in price. Maybe check with a local vinyl shop to see about putting a clear vinyl over them.

You're going to get wildly varying opinions with that question. Likely a lot of flaming from folks too, as people are passionate about their truck and what they think is the best.

In the end, you will be just fine with either one. Both great truck that are very reliable. End of story.

I think, at this point, especially if you are getting a 2017.5+, the reliability is most likely very similar to a 2014 or 2015.

My honest advice is drive both for an hour or so if you can. Highway, stops, hills, etc. Play with the tech inside. I came out of the test drives preferring the interior of the third gen but the drivetrain of the second gen. At the end of the day, I knew I would be happy with the second gen and would probably just get an apple car play head unit later, so I went second gen. Getting the second gen allowed me to get a TRD instead of a third gen SR5 due to cost savings as well.

Yup, mine's on 0 volume now. Taping over the speaker is a good idea, I might try that instead.

Great idea. I also don't feel safe with the regular bottle jack. Safe Jack sells bottle jack extensions that add height to the collapsed height of most sizes of bottle jacks. You can use a smaller jack and get extensions to give the height needed. Not cheap but they do solve the storage problem

All of the parts are for sale individually. I didn't see them on the website but I have a paper catalog with all the part #'s and prices.
