Agree. but kind of like Bowden at FSU when he walked away. He didn't want to stick around and cast a shadow. There's a good point to that.

I agree, that's why I included the AD position, because he would be so heavily involved with other sports as well. It may cast a much smaller shadow, but if you look at Spurrier at UF right now...he is contributing well to that team. (I understand its been quite a few years and he coached at USCe after UF so there is something to be said for time away....)

Then we have a couple/few charity events that keep football programs flush that couldnt afford to do so without the Alabama Endowment Game.

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAA

Listen, I dont like those games any more than you all like seeing Alabama play them. I dont even watch them. I dont even listen to them or follow them. Those are Saturdays that I do Autumn stuff with the family. I really wish the SEC would move to 9 conference games and shake up the scheduling to add more conference rivalries, because I think we should play the teams on the east side of the conference more than twice a decade (minus SECCG possibilities).

I agree with that statement actually. Those games pretty much keep the doors open on a lot of schools. But Bama does't have to be so generous!

I'm still waiting for more 4 16 team super conference talks! Those kind of disappeared.

They did....and I think its because the money wouldn't flow throughout NCAA football in it's entirety. It would stay with those 16 team super conferences.

    Shit, I'd take a couple ACC teams and a Big12 and a B1G team....

Man, could you imagine what that would look like? Sheesh.

haha I know what you meant when you said worthless bowl games, I was just picking at you...because I have heard a lot of Alabama fans say in the past when they didn't make it to the title that "they just didn't want to be at that game". Other teams have said it too, plenty of times. I'm sure LSU has, I personally haven't, but I just hate that that could even be an opinion..."we deserved better so we aren't going to play well against this crap team" yeah whatever lol

yo if your team ever did make it to the bham bowl you'd have to come down! like 25$ tickets at the stadium lol. I used to go to it every year for like 6-7 years just for the fun of it.

I call them worthless, because players sit out. (Which is detestable.)

Its a post season game, involving teams from the regular season, but some players sit out, making it two teams that are a shell of themselves.

Honestly, the playoffs has made these bowls worthless as well...except for the companies that host/advertise. Its a money grab.

I wonder what the viewership is compared to the playoffs. I'm sure there are certain bowls that are watched more heavily than others. However, I'd be willing to assume that the playoffs have double the viewership over even the most watched bowl that isnt associated with the playoffs.

I've recently taken a liking to the lesser known bowls, as typically I'm off work that time of year and the semester is over, so I can treat those games like golf and just nap in my chair with the sweet sounds of college football happening in the background.

I agree with you completely. I do love the lesser bowls and watch every one of them that I can. I also quite like that it's usually 1 or 2 games on at the same time and I don't ever miss the action like a normal Saturday that has 60 games some on channels I can't see.

speaking of viewership, thought this was impressive....https://lsusports.net/news/2019/10/...most-watched-on-espn-in-nearly-two-years.aspx

haha I love it. competition makes things fun.

honestly with certain schedules I'd hate to be a Clemson or even Bama fan. yes, over recent years they'd probably still be fine with the other teams schedules too...but a lame schedule isn't fun to watch. I usually dislike watching a couple of LSUs games for boredom, but to have like 90% of your schedule be boring (50% because you're too good, 50% because your opponent sucks) I would dislike the season overall...even Ohio State, like 1 decent matchup a year? F THAT.
