    *** Public Service Announcement - DLA Changes ***

    DA G1 Compensation and Entitlements announced during AUSA that the policy pertaining to DLA payments was changed. Effective 10 October 2019, DLA may be paid prior to a PCS again.

    In 2014, the policy was changed to prohibit payment of DLA in advance of a PCS move and forced Soldiers to use their Government Travel Card (GTC). However, many times the payments were delayed at the local finance office and forced Soldiers into financial hardships or impacted credit scores.

    Therefore, the Army decided to revert the decision to enable Soldiers to once again receive the DLA payments prior to a PCS move to offset the costs associated with relocating.

    Me too, including a Lt Col who "didn't know it wasn't considered misuse to use it to float a $45K house down payment for a month until his financing kicked in." He forced 12th AF to take it to courts martial, and of course since we were a direct supporting unit for 12AF we had to provide the ceremonial labor.

    He argued that since it was in conjunction with PCS it counted, and the court ended up stuck. He pleaded out toward the end and got to ride out 2 years until retirement.

    Had a SSgt done that shit that dude would have been out the door with a BCD.

    Damn, that’s impressive. What a jackass. I will say that I agree, an enlisted guy would’ve been raked over the fire. In that regard though, enlisted are more likely to do dumb shit like that. When the DTS card first came into play we had a SSG (not Ssgt :D) pull cash from the ATM at a strip club several times and also used it for a new tattoo. :facepalm:

    It’s a racket but it definitely makes things easier for me. Going TDY somewhere with the option to use the GTC to cover everything and then have it paid off once I get back is pretty nice if I just don’t want to deal with using my own money.

    I knew a guy (E4) that stole a few Amex cards at a party and was drawing money off them how he got the pin #s I dont know but OSI came in and interrogated him and told him they had ATM footage of him withdrawing money. It was BS but he fell for it and they sent him out the door...Not sure exactly what he got but Im thinking either BCD or other than honorable.
