My point was, if you are actively running from something/one in fear of your safety/detainment, your "life, liberty, pursuit of happiness" days are friggin gone anyways. Heck, even the witness protection program folks are nobodys after they sign the form.

Unless your 401k is in your mattress and you can somehow keep yourself from ever getting a friendly visit in your new found life? 90:10 nope.

Can you get that offshore to some nice island paradise? 90:10 yes?

It could be a great life. Waking up and eating diner bacon and eggs. Then doing some fly fishing and sun bathing. Taking the 2nd shift bussing tables then going for a jog. Settling back into the van to read your favorite book. Fapping. Reading the newspaper then getting behind the griddle for overnights.

The podcast "Criminal" did an episode on faking your own death. Even that is super complicated.

Best bet seems to be leaving the country.

I swear if you can pick up a language quick, Montenegro or Serbia is where it’s at. Their record keeping is terrible and you could make up your own name. Something cool AF like megagandalf would fly.

Agreed. I'm looking in at it as someone who simply isn't happy with a ten layer tinfoil hat. Sort of like the original subject of this thread. It becomes more and more difficult the more the person is looking for any sort of satisfaction in life other than just remaining alive.

If you are running from the feds: no. If you are running from an angry ex, etc: kinda. Depends how off the grid you wanna go. #vanlife is the soft side of "off the grid" as opposed to the hard "off the grid" such as the later days of Bin Laden using a system of couriers, no digital signature, hell, the guy even walked in the compound orchard to avoid drone surveillance.

Totes. Which is why low level folks are super easy to turn into moles. You think Brenda isn't gonna leak something minor for 50Gs when she makes 33K a year as a bottom bitch on the GG pay scale?

The real kicker is trying to leave the country if you need to. Flying is an obvious no-go, and I'm amazed by the number of news headlines that contain "arrested at airport." Yeah, you deserve to be caught, dumbass. (Well, that and whatever crime you are accused of.) Land borders are becoming increasingly difficult and either you'd need a partner on the other side ready to provide transport or you need to be a badass that can cross desert terrain on foot while drinking your own piss.
The one weak spot still see is that most marinas are still unsecured, save for the occasional retired/divorced crank that lives full time in their boat and watches carefully who's walking on his dock at night. So if you really want some off the grid skills, learn to sail I guess?

This is somewhat true. Especially if you have have GPS or location on. Google keeps record of everything. The GPS data can pinpoint down to a meter.

UPS trucks have telematics. Management can see your vehicle location on GPS, vehicle speed, engine RPMs, steering wheel position and speeds taking turns, brake sensors, bulkhead door open or closed sensor, seatbelt on or off sensor, driver in seat sensor, etc.

We have a union contract prohibiting management from using technology for discipline.

Holy shit I don't know how else to tell you this, but your truck doesn't need a phone to transmit data. You can act all smug but the fact of the matter is your truck has a fancy little shark fin that transmits data all of the time, it gets the weather, it gets your gps, etc all without your phone.

It's really not that fucking complicated.

And that’s where people differ. I assume you have dreams/aspirations, you enjoy success, and you want your kids in college. All I require is junk food and books and physical exercise. All I need is that diner job.

also I know it sounds like prison would be a good thing for me but I don’t like the politics in prison or all the hiding things in your butthole

Yeah, non-extradition countries have always been a good counter to "off grid". Yet another point "Burn After Reading" got right.

Yeah, the Baltic states would be a good choice. Most of South America too.

But a bucket of cervezas and some tacos in Baja Mx is a pretty damn good way to kill some time before the federales track you down.

Gross. I need some place kinda low humidity, I don’t want to be sweaty all the time. Also the bugs suck. Serbia has These awesome giant ass slugs which are cool. I grabbed one once and I swear to god I couldn’t wash the slime off for days, it wouldn’t freakin come off so cool

What are you still doing here then?

For me, not so much dreams and aspirations. If I was going this route, I would just want to be able to travel around a bit and not be dependent on a job for my next meal? It just seems that it would take more cash than I would have available. No cash would seem to be farming or grazing which would just not end well for me.
