After sitting for several days my Tacoma shudders when releasing clutch in first gear. Will not do this repeatedly only on first start up after sitting for days. Center carrier bearing has very little slack. U joints all good, lubed and torqued properly. The relative humidity rarely goes below 90 percent. Empty truck w/FG cap no spare so it is ass light right now. Could this be just a light flash of rust on flywheel causing this?IMG_20191007_131834626.jpg

Blinker fluid is full and have replaced summer air with aftermarket winter air. No CEL or stored/pending codes.

I have noticed a similar situation in my 04. I believe it is the leaf springs worn out. only happens sometimes. I originally thought it was the clutch but I believe it to be the springs worn and axle wrap or wind up.....

Not suggesting fixes, but just getting info, does it shudder if you let the truck warm up for a min or two before taking off?

Would it do this in reverse as well as forward and stop after only doing it once untill it sits for days again?

Forgot to say this is not happening on pavement. My parking spot is dirt, grass, gravel mix and tires not spinning.

I hear you. I'm curious about if it's any different with actually a minute or two longer of running before load applied. I would've asked if it was at temp:D

Something physically affecting clutch material grabbing the flywheel if you have no wheel spin or suspension movement or engine/tranny movement right? Mmmmm

The engine ran at 1100 rpm 2 min and dropped to 780 after coolant reached 140 It ran another 5 min while I watched live data on OBDII.

Sorry, meant wondering if the shutter will happen when first using the clutch if the truck sits for 2 minutes after being started. Gosh my communication is struggling. Hopefully I said that right
Sitting overnight and no shudder next morning. Sits 3 nights or more and there is a shudder only when first moving? Do I understand that right? And no difference if you wait a minute or two after starting before driving?
Edit: ignore me, I see you saying now that it sat running for 5+ minutes before launch and still shuddered. Gotcha. My reading comprehension is challenged at times

I'm thinking rust flash on flywheel because it only does this once after each time it sits for days. If it were clutch springs wouldn't it shudder engaging 1st gear every time?

No noises just shuddering. This truck usually carries 500 to 800 lbs. Evenly loaded in bed and inside cap side compartments.

Yeah I'm thinking same. Hot spots on flywheel that are ever so slightly thicker than the rest of it and then once it warms.... But that'd be every day. Maybe a combo of that flash rust and worn flywheel. You taken a peek in the bellhousing behind that cover thing? Bunch of rusty dust there?

    High winds and
That's what has me puzzled because I have been over every square inch under this truck over the last 2 week drought. Now after 12 hours of wind driven rain/fog/ drizzle/ mist off the Chesapeake Bay/ Atlantic ocean this occurs. Sometimes you can taste the salt in the air here.

I had similar symptoms. Mine was resolved by adding (more) grease to slip yoke.

this is normal behavior, you said relative humidity rarely goes below 90 percent, that is your problem. The clutch/flywheel isn't totally sealed, there is a breather around the fork boot and moist air works its way in there. Over time, you get a humid environment inside where the flywheel is, and you get some shuddering. It goes away after heating it up and driving for a bit. You'll just have to get used to it and go easy on starting from a stop until the flywheel heats up and the moisture gets expelled.
