I always wonder why people call them 3.slow, owned a 22re pick up and a 3.0 4runner and the "3.slow" was definitely significantly faster than the 2.4. I enjoyed the 3.0 more than the 22re, but they both definitely have their flaws as well.

your comparing a 4 cylinder to a 6 cylinder. Plus the 3.0 has notorious head gasket issues.

I wasn't complaining, just said I didn't understand the "3.slow". Yeah, 4 cylinder vs 6 cylinder but those were the only two options unless you balled out for the 22RE-T. Sure it was slow compared to today's standard but I thought it wasn't bad for that era trucks. The 22RE also had issues with headgaskets and warped heads as well, again both had their flaws.

I think it’s because it isn’t much more power then the 4 cylinder for being a V6. 22RE has my vote every time though. I think literally every 3.0 I’ve come across either needed head gasket work, just had it done, or was due for it. Pretty crazy.

I think the 3.0's power depends on the tranny. The auto was a complete power sucker, but i heard the manuals were much peppier

Man, I'd like to... But that's the weekend my Company wants to show how much they appreciate my 5 years of service by ruining my weekend flying me to Newport Beach to eat dinner with a bunch of people I don't know.

Yeah, could be. Both trucks I had were manuals, so I can give input on the 2. I drove an auto 3.0 2nd Gen and it was a turd, but I'm sure and auto 22re would be way worst.

Lol... well, with airfare + ground transport + hotel + dinner for me AND my wife... they'd be in the plus just giving me a $500 Amazon giftcard, and I'd be good.
