What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I’m sure that’s what it is, 99’s had some funny noises for awhile that went away with my alignment a couple weeks ago

 

Once I swap out the driver's side tie rod to match the passenger side, I'll go get an alignment. Hasn't been aligned in maybe 15 years.

What were these noises you had before you had an alignment?

 

Im gonna assume tires riding on the edges + MT’s = awful howl.
They're still loud, but the radio doesn’t have to be on 35 to hear it

 

Did your tire have uneven wear?

And the alignment fixed the noise despite the uneven tire wear?

 

Rotating the more even tires from the back + alignment

 

Thanks. Hopefully rotating the tires out will solve it. I can see uneven tire wear but it’s very subtle.

 

Ko2’s must be rock hard, or you don’t drive much

 

Oh they’re rock hard. @Speedytech7 can attest to this.

Almost sounds like a low thudding/knocking sound in the video. You sure there isn't something lodged in the KO2 tread or something? Doesn't sound like a bearing to me

 

Maybe the rim got bent when my ball joint failed? Who knows. I know the tread wear is a tad uneven, but I haven't tried rotating it yet.

 

Installed Bilstein 5100s with OME 880s and 3/8" poly spacer up front and 1.5" block in the rear (for now) saving for Dakars. This is a 4cly. I also painted the frame from the front seats forward with por15 and a UV top coat. Next week 32's go on, bed comes off, and por 15 the rest of the frame along with eastwood internal frame spray and Fluid film!

 

you have rust to just paint over with por-15?

 

weather warmish so i got a few more hours done, this section is very quick because i can mostly work on the knees with pads!
the remnanants of dealer rubber undercoating is challenging to blast off when the paint is good underneath, where the paint is not good under rubber undercoating it smoothly blasts off to shiny nakedness!



there is a small jackstand under rear axle that is hidden in this pic, in case you wondering or what
