So with the 886 coils and 5100's what notch did you set the mat? Have a 2013 dcsb baja with a Demello winch bumper (nowinch yet, coming this summer). I want a full 3" of lift up front.

886 coils are higher spring rate than 5100s are meant to handle. Anything beyond "0" would be even more than 5100s are meant to deal with. Expect VERY harsh ride even at 0.

That's what I keep reading. Would i be good with 5100's and 887's? What notch for 3" lift with my setup?

Ariyan how much lift did you get with the 886 coils, and 5100 set at 0

Bottom/front seam of driver door. Frame height is ~17.25”. It’s hard to measure.

I have the 886 and 5100's. Toyota dealer installed shocks when they did my frame recall and several guys I'd spoke to in the area swore this was the place to go. Now that being said, my truck rides like a fucking tank. Not sure if it's rebound, but certain divets in the road and I can get some air time if I'm going fast enough. I don't know if I received the wrong ones or if this pair was just not meant to be, but the OME shocks that came with the set orignially had the rear riding almost two inches higher than front. Now it's leveled out, but the shocks have pushed it to the point it can't be aligned with stock UCA's, which are also slapping off of the coils (Yay.) From my experience I'd say it's a bad pairing, but there may be something else causing it to ride so rough.

You put 886 coils on a truck with no armor, bumper, or winch. Someone steered you in the wrong direction my friend. 885's or 887's would have been the way to go for you.

Oh I was preparing for armour. I have the fab four rear bumper right now, the front bumper is next, things have just taken longer. I think it's the 886. I may be remembering wrong as the coils have been on for a few years now. It's the light duty set. The 5100 was only added a couple months ago. But even so, it's far stiffer than the OME shocks, even after adding the bumper (150ibs)

Just double checked, I have 885. Even so. It was never this stiff.

Weird! I've got the 888's and for me they are too soft with the 5100's. I'm wondering if Bilstein changed the valving.

Do you have a front steel bumper?
What setting did you install the 888s on the 5100s?
Currently running 5100s with stock off road springs. Have a front hybrid bumper from bruteforce on order. About 8 weeks to figure out which springs to go with

i switched out to a ADS setup after getting the bumper and winch. The 888’s couldn’t hang and the valving on the 5100s was too light. I had the 888’s at 0 which is all they recommend. If you go higher you can get coil bind. 886s might work for you but aren’t recommended with 5100s.

What I don't understand is where is the happy medium for 5100 and coils on a 3rd gen? 888 not enough lift and sag/too soft/ cant handle weight but ppl say 886 not recommended for 5100s?!

If someone like myself has 5100/888 and wants more lift, what are the viable options to compensate for the heavier 3rd gen, 888 on first notch? or 886? or is there any other coil?!

    Thanks

I think you're kinda stuck. That's where I ended up too. If you are dead set on keeping the 5100's then the safest thing to do would be to add a spacer. However, a number of people run 886's on 5100's and I haven't heard of any issues, but they definitely aren't rated for that spring. The truth is that the 5100's aren't valved for heavy weight anyway.

Yeah that’s what most have said, u can do it but be prepared for a problem even tho it may never happen, and a spacer seems to be the consensus as well for the loss height unless I upgrade.

So what's the consensus on the heavy front end with 886 springs for shocks?

Just to keep this post alive :D , I just ordered my 886 ome coils for my 5100s. Going to be adding a hybrid steel front bumper plus a winch so I'm thinking I should be okay with the extra weight with the 886s and my 5100s set at 0. Not putting on the 886s until I get that extra weight in the front though.
