What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

May I suggest you do something else. Get both a rear camera mounted either on the topper or rack and a front camera. Use a monitor (bigger the better) that can switch between the 2. I use the front camera when on trails to drive around obstacles but more importantly to see over hills when all I can see is my hood and sky. Invaluable safety device when wheeling.

That's an awesome setup. What brand monitor did you go with? Can it be turned off when just daily driving?

 

I didn't realize Weathertech had a protective film like that. Thanks for that. Something I'll definitely consider when I pickup new OEM headlights. I'm starting to battle with some light hazing on mines and probably not worth the investment now.

 

Use a heat gun during install. A hair dryer doesn't cut it.

 

I test drove a 2019 DCLB Off-Road the other day and there were definitely some features that had me thinking I should have sprung for the newer 3rd gen.. Honestly, the ride felt the same as my 2015. Very minimal features like sunroof option, powered rear slider window, heated seats, the updated dash gauge cluster were things i liked but other than that, it felt like the same truck i have. This was also just a 25 minute test drive.

Installed this under front passenger seat. I couldn’t find a better place for it so I $$$ paid for it. Could mean the difference between a minor fire or total loss. I’ve always carried one in my ‘05.

 

I purposely bought my 2nd gen in 2016. Too much technology. When I saw that Toyota was recording every move the 3rd gens make, that was a no for me. Plus more technology doesn't always make a better truck.

 

Man, just noticed that today marks 5 years to the day I drove home my 2014 Taco. Nice. Been a good 5 years... here's to 10 more!

 

Installed a Taco Attic from Blue Ridge Overland

 

Did a quick back up camera relocation. Pulled the back up camera out of my popnlock locking tailgate handle and using the given bracket mounted it to the flipping license plate.

 

I’m going to need to do that. Did you have to extend your wiring?

 

Added an all-pro dual swing out Removed all the red rubber on the handles and swapped them out to black

 

Nope. When you open up the tailgate you can cut camera wire free from its retainers, and you end up with more than enough. I’ve outlined it in red in the pic to give you an idea. I tried to take a bunch of pics, thought about trying my had at a “write up” about the relocation.

 

Changed my spark plugs for the first time at 70k

 

Need to do mine and I’m at 76k. How bad was it?
