Lift frustration...

Sooo.. there is a plethora of information on doing a 2" lift. I am now bogged down in my decision making.

If y'all can point me towards a thread that covers this, that would be great.

1. I want to lift my truck 1.5-2" in the front. Im going to use adjustable Bilsteins.
2. I want to raise the back and keep the rake. I have no idea what this would take
3. I don't want any spacers, and I need to replace the struts and shocks in this process.

 

It can be a rabbit hole . Take a deep breath and call Headstrong Offroad. They will steer you straight. And welcome to TW.

 

The Bilsteins on the third notch should give you what you want. Or, leave them on zero and use a set of Old Man Emu 884 coils. If you lift the front 1.5” then a 1.5” add a leaf in the rear. Call @HeadStrong Off-Road and ask for Marie she can put you a package together. They can also preassemble the front struts and coils so you can just pop them in

 

Just get a 1.5” aal for the rear or a set of 2” full leaf packs for the rear which should settle 1/4 to 1/2” .

As far as tonight goes I see how the AAL would keep the factory rake. Ive never had to do this for a lifted vehicle so I don't know how the logic works-

1. How do I fit/find/measure for shocks on the new 2" set up in the back? Im sure I will get a proper package from Headstrong tomorrow, I would like to understand this issue tonight.

As above stated, @HeadStrong Off-Road will help you. You're lift in the rear will come from the leaf springs

Get ome nitrocharger sport shocks and ome 884s for the front.

 

Unless you want to spend more for a rear full leaf pack, going the cheap route with a single aal will result in a rougher ride, especially with an empty bed. If going the cheap route, look into something like wheelers progressive 3-leaf aal. Avoid blocks at all costs.

 

Buy some Fox's from the folks @HeadStrong Off-Road and find a local shop or offer beer to the lift experts here
on Tacoma World here to help with the install.

Ok I have the lift figured out. Now Im looking at two tire brands, both are 235/85/R16.
The issue is everything I read the Falcons have a real world measurement of 32".
A 235/85/R16 should be around 31".

So the question is: Will the Falcons be an issue with a 2" front and back lift?

235/85s are barely a fraction taller than the very common 265/75 tires most people run and even skinnier. If keeping the stock wheels and backspacing you’ll have no issues whatsoever running that size.

I use a 235/85 as a skinny spare tire on my 4Runner and Pickup to go along with my 265/75s and they fit together fine.

 

Chaz, the Cooper 31" sounds fine, but will Falcon 32" fit on my setup?

I run Falken Wildpeak AT3W in both sizes. Each manufacturer is slightly different but in these sizes usually only be tenths of an inch.

side note, 235/85 makes for great trailer tire size ha more spares!

 

I'm wanting to do the same to my '11 Access cab. I saw you were looking for a LT tire. That might run a little rougher just because it's a LT tire. I'm running the Discover AT3 45's, 265-70R16 on mine and can say I like them. They are good in the rain and snow. I tried calling Headstrong and their recording said they were no longer taking phone calls , but wanted you to contact them through emails on their web sight. So I did that last Thursday or Friday and have not heard back from them. Maybe I'm just being impatient. I have had success calling Toytec and talking to a person there and they were very helpful.

 

I run bilstein 6112/5160s. 3rd notch up front for about 1.5. paired that with the general spring HD pack which gives the same in the rear. pretty happy with it, especially at freeway speeds, rides aweaome

 

Update:

So I purchased front/back 5100's and a 1.5" block kit from Headstrong, and had it installed locally. Also went with Patigonia 265's. I plan on upgrading to Headstrong 2.5" lift springs next spring. The truck looks like I feel it should look like when it comes from the factory. It reminds me of the F150 Texas editions when they first came out, they just looked right with 20" factory wheels. I think if I ever move up to a 3" lift, I'll put 33's, new UCA's, new rims, and a new rear end. Until then I love the ride

 

I thought you said you didn't want spacers?

Can vouch for 235/85/16. Ran it stock and now run it with some lift. Never rubbed, great size, cheap size, get an extra inch or two of ground clearance on top of the suspension lift scot free.

 

Oops sorry. I have 5100's on all four corners. Front end is set at the highest setting with the back end using 1.5" blocks.

when I get the lifting springs i'll adjust the struts back to "0"
