What bed extender for hauling bikes and more?

It will fit under a Toyota OEM tonneau. It will not slide on a Toyota Bed though because you need special brackets with rollers that specific to Nissan utili-trac systems. The sliding brackets only fit the Nissan bed rail track. The bed extender will fit no problems, it can use the same mounting hardware from any other amp/Toyota OEM bed extender.

 

Ok; sounds like good news...I'll just have to live with those top tubes being cut and not all the way around like on other extenders...guess that's the sacrifice for being able to slide it under the TC while closed....and I know it won't slide fancy like it would with the Nissan trac system...I'm talking about just manually sliding it to the rear of the bed when not in use at times...

Are you sure I would be able to slide it to the rear of the bed (over the wheel wells) while the TC is closed? Thanks!

 

I don't have a tonneau anymore. I did check though and the bed extender stays under the top of the bed trim. This is if you have a DCSB and the bed extender sits on to top of the wheel wells. The BE will be under the bed rail trim, and an OEM tonneau sits on top of the bed rail trim.

 

Cool; I have a DCSB so it sounds like this thing is going to work...may pick it up tomorrow or this weekend.....will try to post photos if I get it.

I'm wondering if I can rig it up with straps and buckles I have on hand....

 

The unit has straps included with it. Just make sure you buy the Toyota barrel latch kit because the nissans' wont fit in the tailgate latches.

 

I hope the straps are with the used one I'm going to buy....

Got a suggestion where I should buy that barrel latch kit from? I wonder if I have something that will work on hand though...

 

I used a Ready ramp, the same on my last two 2nd gen Tacoma’s. Now I use it for my 3rd gen. I wouldn’t recommend it for short beds. Two straps always come loose, but it still works.

So I attempted to buy a used bed extender today that came out of a 2012 Nissan Frontier....was shocked to find out it was too wide to work in my 2016 Tacoma...trust me, I tried along with the guy selling it; we both were shocked to see the Tacoma bed is too narrow at the start due to those side walls jutting out at the start of the bed....

I really thought extenders for Frontiers and Tacomas were interchangeable as far as size went....

Back to the drawing board...

Any thoughts, ideas, or criticisms for me??
