That's how they come from the assembly plant, they don't use a gasket but the aftermarket pan filters always give you one that inevitably leaks. The best thing about that post was the song on the radio

I am genuinely surprised that's how it came from the factory.

    Holy shit...

Oh and it was on Youtube music; sometimes Sublime, sometimes Five Finger Death Punch, Tool, and everything in between...

I search it, and download for later use.

Really helpful when you're on the trail and don't have signal.

Yup, the RTV honestly lasts way longer than a rubber or cork gasket and doesn't leak even if a bolt or two loosen over time. I'm surprsied you had a leaking pan TBH, the 26 year old RTVd on pan on my cruiser doesn't even leak.

Also... I'm pleased to be acquainted with the sole person who subscribes to youtube music.

Not saying it can't happen, but most often its the shift selector shaft seal and the various sensor bosses that leak down and then ride the crease of the pan. Sometimes the driveshaft seal and TC seal too. But either way it's an easy fix as long as you use the right RTV.... some folks who don't know better use the high temp red which breaks down in contact with oil and then they have an even worse leak.

Well, going up the steep hills of LA county made my truck shift a few times.

I did turn off the overdrive to help it some, and that's the only time I really went 65-70 on such a steep hill so I blame that.

Before yesterday, it had been about a month since I went wheeling/camping and after I got back, I pressure washed everything and didn't have a single leak.
