A pop/ping happens when I’m going in reverse and turning. (Usually when the wheels are turned to the right) before I even hit the brakes so it’s not the brake slap or whatever. And it’s not every time. It’s happened once or twice when going forward too. 4x4. Icons. Just got the new frame last winter so all the bushings and whatnot are new. Has the sway bar relocate bracket.

Did you get an alignment recently? Sometimes they don't torque those bolts back to spec, that's what fixed my issue very similar to yours.

My truck did it ever since I got an alignment earlier this year. Would pop every time when turning in reverse. Got it aligned again today and the pop/ping has gone away. The previous alignment tech more than likely didn’t tighten everything to spec.

Same thing on my 3rd gen w/TC uca and King coilovers. Anything specific to check as far as bolts, etc to tighten?

LCA cam bolts need to be tightened to something around 100 ft lbs. If that doesn’t do it I guess you could check out your sway bar end links if you still got it in there.

I'd bet money on LCA bolts. Since post lift, any time I get an alignment I have to request the tech to torque past manufacturer spec. Sometimes I still have to re-torque or deal with the popping.

Thanks all. Will check those bolts after work. Literally the only two bolts I didn’t check lol

So what causes the pop/ping sound?

From what I understand it’s from the LCA cam bolt shifting inside the metal sleeve of the bushing if it’s not tight. Makes sense cause my pop always happened when the weight would shift going from forward to reverse.

I had a similar thing happening both when in reverse and moving forward and turning. It ended up being the LCAs shifting front to back on the bushings because they weren't tight in the arms.

I ended up replacing both lower arms with Moog ones, and the problem went away. Very happy with the result, and it only cost about $300 (about 230 for arms, 70 for alignment). Look at the autoanything.com discounts thread and Mike (@eccracer104) should be able to hook you up. You can save some money if you are able to do the repair yourself, like I did.

    Good Luck!
