BUYER BEWARE: 3rd Gen Plug-N-Play Tailgate Bolt-N-Lock & Tailgate Bolt-N-Open

To all new Taco owners that wish to oil/ under guard etc. the truck before the 1st snowfall and are thinking of installing the Pop and Lock for the tailgate, make this your 1st mod. I finally got around to installing today and it took hours instead of minutes just because everything was covered in oil. I had to continuously wipe my hands in order to keep from getting all my tools dirty and from contaminating the wires. I was not able to line the tailgate with any sound deadener because of the excessive oil but did put a layer of foam(laminate flooring underlay) between the actuator and the bracket as well as a 1'x2' layer above the lock on the exterior of the tailgate.

 

Installed my lock just a few mins ago. It was pretty simple, like the plug and play aspect of this! GREAT product.

Yes and yes. One, sorry to hear about all of that. Never like to hear those kind of stories. I can switch up the PNP Harness just for you if you want to connect it to the drivers side. Just know that the drivers side connects with the drivers door so that is the first click, not the second click. It is different. Not sure if you are aware of this. The reason that I connect my kit to the passenger side, or when I tapped originally I used the wires under the drivers door seal to connect to so that I could get the second click. However, it is all doable. Send me a PM and we can talk more there. Thank You!

@CBChief is correct and I announced this prior to my departure. I have been gone for the last week and a half. I just got back into town. Since I have been back (Monday), I have done the following:

• Shipped out some EBay orders
• I’m currently working on a 70 order IN-CAB 120V 400W AC POWER OUTLET Shipment that I’m hoping to get out tomorrow morning that I just received the PNP Harnesses last night and have been waiting for like 8 months.
  
• Then I will be releasing the 3rd Gen Tacoma Power Folding Mirrors finally
• Then my Red TRD Blue LED OEM Start/Stop Push Buttons came in so I will be Shipping those out as well.
• Following that, I will return all the Tailgate Lock & Tailgate Opener PMs and Ship the rest of the Orders.
  
• Last, I am waiting on 70 3rd Gen Tundra PNP Tailgate Lock Harnesses to get here from my vendor that have been shipped and should arrive any day. I have already put all the Kits together (Monday) and I am just waiting for the Harnesses to get here in order to complete the Kits and be able to finally release the Tailgate Lock Kit to the Tundra Community this week.

 

Thanks for the quick reply Katie, I appreciate it. With that being said I am taking out the pop and lock and returning it and replacing it with your unlock and open system that will go up the passenger side. Just seems to be a much better system and installation. Thank you

 

Just ordered via eBay also. Can’t wait to install. Funny tho, our truck has ALL the wires on the driver side. Did pop the kick panel and looks like all the connectors are there so hoping will be all good.

 

You’ll be good to go When you run your harness down the passenger side of the truck you’ll actually run it along some other wire Harnesses as well. Most of our wires go down the drivers side, but we do have a few that do go down the passenger side. I didn’t think so originally either. You’ll love the kit and it will definitely be worth it. I promise you!

I don’t have a thread yet, but I probably will make one. They are rare when they become available from my vendor and when they do he sends them to me right away. I have 8 and I may have just a couple left but at this time I’m not at liberty to say if I do or don’t have any available. Once I get some of these bigger shipments out the door and I get a little caught up, I can make a post on what is available or not and then first come first serve. I can reach out to see if anymore have become available but last I checked they were all out right now of the OEM Blue.
