No Double Cab Long Beds. I believe the sport model has an Access Cab Long Bed with the MT.

6MT FTW! I upgraded to 4.88s and it is a WORLD of difference. Plus you can sell your 4.30s to someone with a 6AT for a good price to help offset the cost of the upgrade. Gears and softopper are the best things I've done to my taco.

80% of my driving is on the highway, with a decent amount of hills. I have a 1,000ft grade I have to descend and climb on my commute to and from work, with smaller hills too. The AT jumps all over the place on the highway. I call it the 4-5-6 dance. If I had a MT, the truck would be fine in 6th most of my commute. I'd only downshift to 5th maybe once or twice to keep my speed up, and just leave it in 4th for my 1,000 ft 2mi climb up the one major grade. The 4-5-6 shuffle gets annoying and I find myself really paying attention to my gas pedal and feathering it to try to keep it in the gear I want it to be in.

If you live in a flat area, you'll probably be fine at highway speeds.

The AT doesn't bother me at all during city driving. It's peppy if you give it throttle, it keeps the RPMs down if you baby it, and if you drive it like normal I feel that the shift points are just fine.

I went with the AT because it gets slightly higher mpg and because a MT cement TRDOR is a unicorn.

+ 1 for MT..... either way you’re gonna want to get OVTune. No TSB will ever compare.

Loved my OV 6MT.... I’ll have another one day.

Same here (except for the 18 wheeler part). Been driving MT all my life in Toyota trucks. The stop n go traffic here in Jersey has worn me down over the years but now that wifey will need to be able to drive it with our little ones, auto is pretty much a necessity

She actually does haul ass once you get above 3500 rpms haha. But then at those revs you get single digit gas mileage.

If you math out the final drive with 4.88s and 33s it's only about 7% more rpms than stock. So about 250 rpm more on the freeway. I live in AZ so I routinely drive 80 mph. At those speeds I get about 17 mpg. Not terrible actually. The worst part of the 6MT is the 6th gear ratio. It is way less than the 6AT. So stock or modified the 6MT is screaming on the highway. The MT has so many other advantages though it's worth it to me. I love my truck.

Thanks for the reply. 17 mph at 80 mph isn't bad on that setup. Is that what your gauge reads while on hwy or the average of all your driving?

Yeah mostly. I've gotten used to the touch entry over the years on my vehicles.

    NP!
That's the trip average driving from Tucson to Phoenix. I also have more street oriented tires. Firestone destination A/T

Auto if you want a more capable vehicle. Manual if you must have your hand around a hard long shaft and you wanna tell everyone that you drive a Manuel.

test drive both and pick what you like.
