Thanks all for the comments, good and bad. I didn’t have a chance to do much research since my purchase happened quite fast. I’ll get it figured out.

Welcome to TW! Congrats on new taco. Tons of useful info here.

Be careful what you read tho, otherwise you will start thinking there is something wrong with your truck.

Tacos are truly great trucks, i got 18 and its been amazing besides few minor recalls.

    Enjoy man!

Ok, so I was looking for a DD gas saver a few months ago. First was deciding which cars. I started looking at the accord, corolla and prius. I then decided I liked the prius and decided to look for prius forums. I ended uop joining one and asking questions. I realized that yes, the prius is a good option, but buying a car rn with a recession around the corner (my bet is shortly after Trump is reelected). If I decided to dig deeper I could have read up more on the forum and watched more youtube videos and asked more questions, but since I aint buying rn I aint gonna look further into it. Thats how you get a heads up. Go to the ram eco diesel forums and Im sure you can find out about their problems. Heck, after 2 youtube videos I realized that that truck had more flaws than this one (and it aint anywhere near as cool).

Good for you jack. Maybe think about the fact that not everyone does things the same way as you before you post.

Just stop worrying and enjoy your Tacoma. I've got one that has given me 413,000 trouble free miles over 23 years and another that has given me 15,000 over one.

My 2017 had none of the listed issues. I even got paranoid and checked my transmission fluid level, but it was perfectly filled.

The truth OP: TW aggregates the unfortunate owners and the chronic complainers in one place. It is doubtful the complaining will subside, as the truck is very popular, and some unlucky people will buy those rare Toyota lemons, and other guys will simply be purchasing a vehicle they are destined to hate. They all end up here.

The majority of the 2016’s were also trouble-free, but you’d never guess that by visiting this site.

Yeah because that's what I said... I was just noting that not everyone has had these issues

My bad bro, you meant about the economy lol It aint a sure thing. A lot of the real estate brokers (for big firms, not independents, so it weighs something), bankers, econ proffessors and business men Ive spoken to about it seem to agree it will come in 2020. I personally believe that a big player in Trumps campaign is the booming economy. Now either someone powerful will try to screw him over again and let the crisis hit before elections, or he will find a way to artificially inflate it so that he looks great during elections, and then let it slow down (or just plain let it drop) after he is reelected. I study economics, and while I dont have my Ph. D, this all makes sense. Again, it aint a sure thing, but just like Epsteins suicide (that was a sure thing to me) we’re gonna look back at this soon we’re both gonna be thinking “you called it.” (A friend told me “thats crazy because you called it that Epstein would get suicided)

Are you comfortable doing your own work/maintenance? Is there a local mechanic near you that you trust?

I am very comfortable doing my own work, matter of fact that is what I prefer. I don't trust just anyone with my wheels, but this one came with 2 years of free maintenance.:)
