Lift Kit Options

I have a 2017 TRD Tacoma and want to install a 6" lift. Curious on what brand I should go with. I don't want something cheap, and most my miles are on the road so I would like some opinions. (Yes, I want the lift mainly because I think it looks good, so don't be rude.)
I installed a leveling kit on my truck when I bought it, but now want something that looks a little more awesome.

 

Big name companies like pro comp, bds or ready lift are what you want. Some people say to stay away from rough country but others say RC is okay. If you really want to elevate your ride, go with front replacement coilovers. You can purchase a bds 6" lift with or without coilovers. I believe any other kit you will have to special order for the extended length of the coilovers.

 

You don't gain much more of anything with a Drop Bracket Lift. Plus you need to cut the cross member off to do it. Plenty of better option in the 3 inch besides Pro Chomp, or Junk Country. Do a lot of research, have fun. And if you are 2 Wheel Drive, go with a spindle lift.

 

I don't get why people always try to change other people's mind when it comes to lifting with DB's. The lady asked for recommendations on 6" lifts, not why a 3" lift is better than a 6" lift.

And yes, if 2 wheel drive, go with a spindle lift and you can add bilsteins or spacer for additional lift.

Really doesn't matter what kit you use they pretty much are all the same. Only difference is what shocks you choose to run. I think bds comes with fox coilovers. rc uses ranchos or some Chinese shit. Either way they will all net you 6 inches.

Personally I would just go with the cheapest kit if all your after is the look or whatever.

My truck is 4 wheel drive. Will definitely be sticking with the 6".. Yes most my miles are on the road and prefer a smooth ride but if I do go off road, I don't want a POS... And by off road, I mean hunting season driving in the high country. I won't be climbing any rock canyons

 

I think the general consensus (at least in full size truck land) is that BDS with Fox coilovers are the way to go if you want to go 6”. Don’t listen to all of the curmudgeons around here and get what you want. I personally wouldn’t go chopping up the frame of my truck for the sake of a lift, but they sure do look good when done right.
