Finding an Elocked 80 series rear is tough and if you do find one, its pricey. I'll be running an ARB in mine with 4.88's, all set up by ECGS

Is it an optical illusion or is that an offset rear end?

I know the older FJs had them.

Tacoma isn't though. So you'll have that two way offset on the rear driveline. I guess people are doing it so it must no create any vibration issues?

That's one of the things I need to find out.
Between that and if it really is that much harder to find a locked FJ80 rear end... @Drtgrl might be right on the D60.

If I'm already going to have to ad an ARB locker and if the offset makes for another added expense... A D60 may be the cheaper/better/easier route to go (or a 9inch)... but it doesn't have the coolness factor of FJ80.

I’ve only seen it on one rig in person but he centered the axle. Sounded like more work then it was worth. He just wanted to keep it all toyota but said he would go d60 if he had to do it all over again

Ya... ZERO chance I'm going through all that to center the diff.

And I could probably find a D60 at a dozen wreckers within 50 miles. Whereas I'm trying to contact wreckers in Arizona and Colorado for an FJ80 axle.

Yeah, agreed. Sucks seeing how high the prices for a D60 are now. 12ish years ago I got mine for $200

Check tundra rear ends too. They’ll closer match track width of LT front, plus probably easier to find. A know a guy in WV that has camburg LT up front and Tundra axle out back. I can ask him how hard I was

I've done some research on Tundra (and Sequoia for the disc brakes) seems the general consensus is they are just longer Tacoma axles. All you get is extra width with no added strength... and they didn't come with lockers.

He’s got the sequoia axle actually, just confirmed. Cut off spring perches, put on leafs, and threw it under his 3rd gen 4Runner. It’s just wider to match the track width of the front. He’s running that with 4.88s and arb air locker

So, I asked a buddy about the offset. He's saying he knows a few people who have FJ swapped with the diff offset and they've had no problems with vibes.

Yeah my heep will have a slight offset rear end. 14 bolts apparently pinions are slightly off centered. Doesn't help that my rear driveline is like 18" long...

I have a cv joint so that should help.

They just go straight from the Tcase to the diff. He said the Tacoma driveshaft should go right from one to the other. It may need a 1 inch spacer to reach but he said he doubt it will.

Sounds like it's plug and play... the Tacoma ebrake should even work.
