Well, was going to look at my wheel bearings today, been chasing a vibration and a bit of noise, took of the tire and lo and behold.... something isn't right here. Now the hub can turn with the rotor off, although it's very tight, suspect the bearing is wearing, and near bad. Whats concerning is the fact the rotor wasn't really held tight against the hub. The attached video is just after I took the tires off. Other side is solid, no movement like in the video. Am going to try to just clean rust off from hub and rotor, and see if that will hold once torqued... So TW, whats going on here??? This would explain the "brake slap" I've been feeling...

Thats normal. The tire/lugs is what holds the rotor on. And as far as the spinning, that normal also. Bad wheel bearings will show up as high frequency grinding noise or side to side play. Put the wheel back on and spin with one hand while holding onto a solid part of suspension with the other hand. Like upper control arm, You'll feel obvious grinding if bearing is the issue.

Yeah, the driver's side is just very hard to spin compared to the passenger. Little stethoscope makes it sound rough inside the bearing with the caliper removed as well...

If you have a temperature gun, you can check the temperature difference of the driver side and passenger side hubs (after driving the truck several miles, or more). If the driver side is much hotter, the bearing is bad.

Is there a "lot" more resistance on one side vs the other when turning the hub? Calipers and rotors would need to be off both sides to eliminate their drag contribution. If so, one or the other could be on its way out. Hard to tell which though. Bad one could be already worn out and lose or bad one could be tight but about to start shedding metal.

Yeah, took off both rotors, passenger spins fairly free, driver is really stiff!!! Will be looking into this, additional drag could explain my mpgs, odd steering..
