In that case Soccer mom Becky would like you to know her manual transmission days lasted about three weeks back in 1994 when she got the hand me down BMW 3 series which she promptly nuked the clutch in. Her parents took pitty on her and got her a used Volvo 850 instead. It was the most sporty car she every owned and it carried her through college, but right after passing her CPA test and meeting Brad she learned the value of a timing belt service. She traded the broken remains in on a new Corolla, then moved up to a Camry and now a Sienna. She still dreams about Volvos because the seat heaters kept her more warm than her current husband Brad who sits in the garage wondering why his sliders don't go flare to flare

I went with the 2020 6MT, it was the first 2020 at the local dealer.
I like it, but am also babying it during the break-in period so I can't comment too much on red-lining it.

I took it easy on the 2020 6MT I test drove. Didn't rev it past about 3500 maybe 4000. Wasn't staring at the tach. I should have opened it up a little more...I noticed the 6MT wanted more throttle to get going vs the AT. Both trucks seemed to lack any power under about 3000 rpm.

I'm leaning towards 6MT and have been since before this thread. I just want to make sure I can wake up the throttle response. The auto had much better light throttle behavior...but I would go crazy if it shifts like what I experienced on my AT test drive trying to merge.

I know that re gearing and a tune would probably wake up the auto and allow it to use its higher gears more effectively... its just hard to imagine if I would be happy with that or not. I do enjoy having control over what gear I'm in.

I have an 84 Datsun/Nissan 2wd pickup with a 3 speed auto (not very common). Yes, they did build them at the factory.... it has a simple kick down switch on the accelerator pedal. Press it to the floor enough to click the switch and it downshifts instantly. It's a simple, well executed feature on an auto. Gives you back some control. Having only 3 gears is actually not that bad. It could use an overdrive, tho. LOL

In 2017, I testdrove two 2017 TRD OR autos. They were decent, nothing really exciting though. Eventually found a manual and bought it. 2017 TRD OR. Went with the manual. Didn't care what color it was.

Currently have 16k miles on it. 40 mile round trip commute (Atlanta traffic) and am completely satisfied. Currently get around 21 to 21.5 mpg on a tank of gas. Currently have three other cars (all manual). If I can drive manuals in ATL traffic anyone can. Really isn't a big deal, but then again I am not constantly playing with my phone or eating/drinking during the commute.

Wow no idea what kind of sorcery you use to get those kind of MPG because I drive in LA and the Bay Area traffic and don't get anywhere close to that and I'm usually driving on my best behavior.

Side question, are automatic on/off headlights not standard on the TRD Offroad trim? I see "auto headlights" listed under the premium package. I am aware that Toyota Safety Sense comes on all trucks now with auto high beams, but seems like they are listing "auto headlights" as optional. Can someone confirm this is correct?

MT. It's not perfect, but better than the auto IMO. Both my old roommates have autos and don't have any complaints, to each their own.

Might be different on 2020 but they were part of the Premium and Tech Package on my truck.
