Don’t have a trailer. I’ve shoveled tons of shit out of the sides of this truck. Shoveling is good exercise.

Not really interested in biking really. If I do get a bike, it will have a 500cc motor in it!

You must have done the Chinnabee Silent trail up to the Pinhoti. They don’t call that trail stairway to heaven for nothing!

Experience is your best teacher. 59 miles is quite a hike, even for a multi day trip.

You gotta put aside some time to stop and enjoy your scenery and relax. Or else it would just be a forced march. I did plenty of those in the military. We hike the mileage to get far away from people!

I doubt we will hike that far. We like to hike 10-15 miles in, set up camp, enjoy some whiskey by the fire, cook and feast!

You can misconstrue whatever you want. You can ask all the welders that sell products engineering questions that you want.
Your bed rack is transferring the weight from above at a greater angle than a camper shell and is transferring it to 4 points that are about 4” wide.
A camper is distributing the weight at an angle closer to 90 and evenly across all 3 bed rail surfaces. The reinforcements in the fiberglass also prevent the angles from flexing as much as if it were not reinforced.
Also, clamping the shell at multiple points provides a more rigid and continuous seam than the couple of bolts you have through sheet metal at each of your 4 points.
So with all that considered. A reinforced camper shell provides a surface that is less like likely to distort the bed sides.

But you win Scotty. Steel is stronger than fiberglass.

Lol you have no idea how my rack is built. It isn’t supported by being bolted in 4 little spots. I’ve had a reinforced shell Tyler. I’ve literally run the setup you have. I have also run a well built rack as I currently am.

I’m not trying to “win” just trying to make sure you aren’t talking out your ass, which you are.

take a look here at my rack big hoss. It matches the cab lines just like a camper shell does. It also sits on the bed rails with flat steel supports almost exactly as a camper shell does. My rack does not distribute the weight at any more of an angle than any camper shell does and since it is steel tubing it is stronger than any fiberglass shell that can flex. Good grief. You made a bad point, I refuted it with evidence, I’m the argumentative one again.

Whattttt??? Your rack didn’t sit at 45 degree angles off the top of your bed like a teepee or something? Insane.

camper shells are the only thing that stop bed spreading.

I actually haven’t seen many if any 3rd gens with bed spreading. Who knows maybe they did something different or the designs are different enough to kinda stop it. Not saying your shell would anyways lol.

Possibly lol. I just know it’s more common, but easily fixable. Jeff’s right composite beds are crap lol. Just is what it is. Hate I have my bed rack and can’t do truck stuff with mine, real shame. Lol. Bed would probably break anyways.

I’m gonna get a reinforced camper shell, flip it upside down, and use that as my bed. Shits stronger than steel.
