Thanks for all the great comments. I really do love my tundra and it is in fact paid for has been for 3 years now. While mileage is a concern. The city driving parking etc is what’s a pain. Someone mentioned it above it almost feels like a waste now because I’m the only one in the truck 98% of the time.
If I did buy a Tacoma I don’t think I would go buy a brand new one I think I would look for a clean slightly used one.

If you do that, make sure you test drive the hell out of it. Especially on the highway. Pay attention to how the transmission shifts. Make sure you have no issues with it.

I had a 08 Tundra DC, pretty basic, and wanted some of the bells and whistles. When my wife told me I should buy a smaller truck, I didn't ask why. I bought a 17 Tacoma and while I like it, I miss my Tundra. My advice is don't do it. I'm guessing you might have young kids; they will only continue to grow and that Tacoma will only get smaller as they do. (And if I'm wrong about that, then think about grandkids :D )

So I'm voting not to do it.

Used Tacoma's rarely make sense because they hold their value so well, in all honesty a new leftover 2019 would make the most sense as far as money goes.

I drive a full-size F150 for work, that is plush and nice driving (free company gas too), but always look forward to driving my personal Tacoma. Full size pickups are big and bloated. I would not want to drive one of them as my personal truck unless necessary for some particular thing you absolutely need to do.

You probably already know this, but a slightly used one will cost about the same as a new one. I paid $25.5k for a new 2019...the used ones I looked at were about a grand less and I was sketched out as to why someone would dump a 15 month old 4x4 Taco....

I have a family of 4, kids are still young. I think it will get tight as they get older but we have an SUV that we drive most of the time as well.

I have had my Tacoma for 3 wks and my gas mileage is okay.

I'd say keep the tundra and get a daily beater.

Be patient and wait for the new 2021 Tundra debuting around this time next year. A hybrid version will be an option as well. Your family will be cramped in a Tacoma. Kids are like weeds, they only get bigger.

I had to go with spacers in front and rear as well,as Clazzio covers, before I got it to where I needed it.

Paid $750 five years and 60,000 miles ago...Cost $100/year to tag and $213 every six months for insurance. About 34mpg on my 60 mile round trip to work. I have never washed it and is like a tank in the snow...

Test drive with the family and gauge their comfort; they know how often they’re in your truck. Then look at the costs and what’s important to you. I’d patiently hold out for a hybrid Tacoma myself.

I would get a Tacoma and take the suv on all family trips. I'm not a fan of driving big trucks around anymore, but that's just me. Good luck!

Op if your worry about gas milage then dont trade for tacoma. The best thing you can do is just keep the tundra and pick up a cheap car for long daily drive.
I have a tacoma and sometimes wish i should of gotten a tundra. I also have a honda fit for my daily drive or long distance drive by myself. It get about 37 mpg and only cost $17k new.

I had an ‘09 Honda Fit. Loved it. Those are awesome, versatile, cheap econoboxes. I almost bought a used one for a commuter back when I was commuting 100 miles round trip each day.

I know you said just it’s just for fun but if you really are trying to make a decision here what anybody else thinks doesn't mean squat. It’s your unique, individual situation you need to think about.
